So now I know why they put two front plate gaskets in the gasket set.
Fitted the front plate, then got out the Duplex chain set and found two countersunk screws. What are they for? Ahhh, the crank sprocket fouls the bolts into the bearing cap. These countersunk screws must fit there, but the front plate needs countersinking for them to fit......
Am I missing something here???
Reminded me completely of Cooperman's timing cover story.

Hmmm. used a bigger drill but the end had been sharpened, used the countersunk screws provided, got them as tight as I could but was wondering.....looks like the cover might be coming off again...
the screws do come very close to the chain...
