Defender for daily drive?
Discussion
Well thanks again for all your advice and comments.
The EGR valve was finally replaced on Monday as apparently when under warranty, they just do what Land Rover tell them to do, so that should be an end to it.
They are going to offer me a 'fantastic' deal on a new one so I'll then decide whether to keep this one or start afresh.
I guess that I have over-reacted a bit but frustration has set in really set in.
If they had changed the valve at the start, at least two of the visits would have been avoided plus the costs to them of providing a courtesy car etc.

Welcome to dealers, some ate excellent and know the cars and their characters and how to solve it properly.
Others don't so just throw parts at it or lie to you.
It's a shame you have had to deal with such bad service.
Now you need to deside if you are still happy with the car or have you lost the love for it.

Keep the faith Davel. I've been running an '09 SX as a daily driver for 4 months/7000 miles and whilst it's been back to the dealer for a new key-set and ignition after the key jammed, I'm hooked. Yes it leaks rain water from most of the windows, but hey, that's why I got the heavy duty mat set! Just need to get the driver's door re-aligned as I'm getting quite a draft when driving over 50mph...

Just to see what sort of negotiations were had on a new price Defender. Ive been offered 6% of list and any extra toys. Thought this pretty good.
There are not many defenders used in the SE at the moment hence considering a new.
I think you'll find you can get more than that off plus there are extra dizzys available There are not many defenders used in the SE at the moment hence considering a new.

That does look niceHow far do you travel everyday? Why did you go for the 90 over the 110?
hi, definitely a daily driver. used my TD5 now for about 5 years/70K. local, to work and back. 200 mile trips, regularly. france a handful of times. no excessive problems/costs. Always got me there and back. get used to the quirkyness, blank the egr when the warrenty runs out, re-map at the same time for 50% increase in power, and keep it. it becomes a passion. best of luck.
.... just a quick point. will the new 2.2 prove equally practical as a daily? especially for short commutes. i have a 12reg 2.2. done 20k. dpf already sooted up once. dealer said new dpf etc, not warrenty, my fault. cost would be #1500-2000. luckily lr assist, with laptop + patience, managed to re-generate the dpf. took about an hour of driving mind. you can be sure it will happen again..... probably more than once.... once out of warrenty, a dpf bypass/removal could be the way, if it was to be a keeper.
