Evoque - ageing badly????

I do see where you're coming from with all of this but I have divided opinions.
As 'Landy Enthusiasts', we aren't the target market so it's irrelevant if we think there's a place for it or not. However, it is still selling by the bucket load, so it must float someone’s boat!
The point about looking like the Freelander/RRS... Well, there's a reason for that. Range Rover is now a range/family, so there is going to be a 'family' look & feel across the range (same as with Porsche, MB, Audi, blah, blah...).

Yep. The accountants would notice if they stopped making them. As 'Landy Enthusiasts', we aren't the target market so it's irrelevant if we think there's a place for it or not. However, it is still selling by the bucket load, so it must float someone’s boat!

It was a few years ago but it came as a bit of a shock when I found out too!!
I only noticed coz I parked the soft-dash Classic I had at the time, next to the Freelander 1 the missus had. I then noticed just how big the Freelander actually was and was quite surprised.

Just looked up the dimensions, and by and large they are all in the same ball park, length and height a 20mm here and a 30mm there.I only noticed coz I parked the soft-dash Classic I had at the time, next to the Freelander 1 the missus had. Big surprise for me was the width, didn't realise FL2 is 132mm wider than the RR Classic and even 20mm over a P38.
Fair enough.
New to the LR brand. I never give a thought about buying into the LR brand up and till The wife I went into the dealership on the off chance. (Disco my choice)First of all I always said I would like a 4x4 on day before I retire anyway we have in the last year welcomed two grandchildren and as a lot of you know us grandparents are chief child minders. So here I am our little A1 is going to be no where big enough ,so now I have the excuse to finally purchase a 4x4
I have always bought premium brands Jag Merc and the last three have been Audi. I started to eliminate models I had no interest in ie Kia Sportage Ford Kuga and all those usual suspects. I always wanted a Disco but that went out the window as it's to big, after all it's going to be the wife's car. We then settled on three, Q5 Q3 and the Evoque. The Q3 went because it does not have its own identity to much like a A1/A3 on steroids. The Q5 is a great car but getting a brand new one was going to take 20 weeks and a nearly new in the spec I would like was rare as rocking horse $hit.
Now to the Evoque and what sold it to me. I looked over it first thing I do like the shape and the cabin is a nice place to be with far more kit in the basic model then I thought possible. We did the test drive and the diesel lump is quite perky if not that frugal. The yearly tax at £200 anit bad £500 for five years free servicing, safety 5 stars, great residuals at 3 years old, and best of all my wife's is over the moon with it. And one last thing is, out of all we looked at and thought about, the Evoque is most defiantly the best in snow ice etc, something to think about during our winters of late.
Fair play to Land Rover they build a great products and certainly won me over, even the dealership was a pleasant experience

Really? Bloody hell! Presumably it's a similar size to a Disco 1/2 then? Mind you the new Mini now has a longer wheelbase than the RRC/Disco.Big surprise for me was the width, didn't realise FL2 is 132mm wider than the RR Classic and even 20mm over a P38.

They could easily drop it from the line up and I'm not sure anyone would miss it, or indeed even notice.
I expect the guys working round the clock to produce then will miss their wages. As far as looking old, other car makers are still trying to incorporate aspects of the design into their own. What I find interesting is that, unlike many styles that get copied successfully, I havnt seen anything yet that has got close to the Evoque.
I understand the 'too many around' thing but IMHO this country has got to learn that if we produce something that is admired the world over then we should sell as many as we bloody well can.

Yep also gobsmacked. P38 1890mm
FL2 1910mm excluding mirrors.
I know you can, but it just becomes a chore hunting for end/corner spots that allow you and neighbouring vehicles to open your doors without denting one another's bodywork. Mrs Digga's Evoque already sports a small ding in the driver's door - at 1895mm I now understnad perhaps why.

Having run a P38 and two D3's, I'd say the biggest deterrent to buying a FFRR or RRS
WTF is that all about? Ranger Rover P38.
Discovery 3.
The 'full fat' Ranger Rover (FFRR) and Range Rover Sport (RRS) are wider.
