+1 for the Disco 3 . Very good family car. Not blinged up, but smart and does the job.

its funny.. I'm going the other way..

I've had a disco 3 for 2 years.. and loved every second of it, fantastic car.. I've got an SE with a few extras.. Its now done 28k completely faultlessly. its big, spacious, in fact cavernous. I could argue its one of the best cars I've owned.. probably showing my age!

Now I want to change it for a sport.. I notice the prices are slipping. I always fancied a sport. the TDV8 .. seems the 07 models with 10-15k are starting to be around the 35k mark, I'm told my disco is around the 18/19k mark its an 06, that may be wishful thinking.. maybe early next year the prices will have slipped some more and the cost of change will have narrowed slightly more.

am I mad?.. just the disco in my opinion doesn't have that extra ooomph when you put your foot down, or have that styling... maybe its the wrong decision and one I may regret..

If you don't need the space, then go for it!

fully understand that. Our D3 is for the 3 kids and dog ! so the best option for space, safety etc. 3 child seats across the 2nd row and from time to time grandparent and a buggy in the 3rd row.

Sports look great but for us does not have the space.

so for the OP, can you sacrifice the space is the question?

That is the question ! I sat in both new models at a main dealers and just cant make up my mind, I do like the RR, like the space and the styling inside but much prefer the look of the RRS.

If both were same price I would probably have the RR but 30 K gets a nearly new RRS and a RR probably need to add another 15 K to the price, decisions decisions

So a D3 is off the books?

Range Rover old fashioned. Buy a Disco or if you must a RRS and stick the 15k in the bank.

I'd go for the 'full fat' Range Rover everytime - sure the Sport is cheaper, but as you've spotted - you just have to sit in it to see why!

Your budget will get you a great face-lifted model and the petrol ones particularly, are bargains right now (IMO the V6 'diseasels' are too slow to warrant consideration in either RR or RRS form).

get down to BCAuctions. RRS's going through for 19-20Kish for 06 plates. There are absolutely no RR or RRS's moving at the moment at decent money. The majority of people advertising dont realise what there car is now actually worth. 06 plate HSE's are changing hands at dealers at the 22k mark. Anyone who spends 30K on an 06 HSE no matter the spec is flushing money down the toilet.

its a 100% buyers market and its going to get worse(or better if your buying) with all the repossessions starting to happen.

Good luck!
