We’ve ordered a 110 S D250 MHEV. We like triple black, body, wheels interior. I think it’s about £6k options, black pack, black wheels (prefer the style of the 19s) black headlining, upgraded headlights, side steps, folding roof, blind spot, privacy glass, country mud flaps. It’s about £60k which is the most I have spent on a new car but I actually believe it is all the car I could want. I’ve got a RRS which is paid for so that will go towards it. Looked at a 90 and it was just too small. The dealer is going to paint the silver bits black too.

Thank you. A brilliant colour. I’ve had two RR’s in the same colour. Enjoy!

Update on mine due to the dealer being useless ours wasn’t ordered. Had to order again this week. I was so annoyed by the dealer I went to a different one. Unfortunately JLR have removed the base spec S from the configurator. Mine was an S with £6k of extras. I had to order an SE or X Dynamic S as the base and they started at about £59k. I went for the X Dynamic and added folding roof, Santorini black, black pack, black alloys 19”, black headlining, Blis, side steps and the better headlights. It came to £64.5k. The dealer gave me 4% off that and a dog ramp. This time paperwork done and order in. Now the wait.

Not being alarmist or anything, but worth checking...

Thanks I will tomorrow. It’s been a ball ache so far. First couple of weeks I stalled and they raised the prices by over £2k, sales girl had the specifications and could have called me as arranged and got the order. It went from £58k to 60k. Then I ordered and left deposit. Last Friday I discovered it wasn’t processed properly….great. The sales person wasn’t there so I called another franchise and drove there. 30 minutes later I was sat ordering again. When we opened the configurator it became obvious JLR had streamlined the available cars. It now started at £58/9k not £54k. We priced up my requirements and it’s now £64k +.
The difference is this salesman wanted to do a deal and work with me. The result 4% off the car and a dog ramp. Effectively now £62k. It’s more than I wanted to pay but it will be a higher spec.
These cars are selling for £10 to 15 k over list used with miles. The salesman I spoke with has 11 people waiting for cancellations and willing to pay over. They are very in demand.

Does anyone have a PHEV? Any views?

While not a Defender, have a PHEV RRS and during the great petrol crisis it was a godsend. It does drink the juice and I’m not quite sure if it regens like a ‘normal’ electric car but when running on petrol+elec the performance is brilliant.
Again, this isn’t a defender but I don’t like the way that now the boot has a slope downwards towards the door due to the battery - its very annoying, you fill the boot with your shopping get home, open the door and it then falls out on the drive! Whoever signed off on that design needs 10 years in prison and owns me 3 bottles of wine to date! smile

Not seen the Defender version to comment but I am very much now in one or the other camp, either full elec or full petrol/gas - I think its just adding more that could/will go wrong and will likely cost a small fortune to fix if it does.

I heard today from the dealer. Due to customer orders being cancelled (flippers) my build has been moved up and car will be her at the end of June!,,,,just need to look down the back of the sofa.

Great news!
I got a similar outcome on my RR, but suspect it's because lots of people went with the PHEV and I've stuck with a diesel. Due in July.

Early November 2021. I removed the matrix headlights to speed things along. I’ll also be checking the specification I ordered against what I get. I removed the JLR a steps and country mud flaps as they are so much cheaper elsewhere. I think flaps were about £400 but I can get genuine for about £180 from Powerful. Steps are about £300 not £1100.00.

Interesting that they’re cancelling some orders for those looking to flip. I ordered mine in December - a D300 - so things could start moving.

Question, though……any idea what’s going on with finance? They’ve removed all the finance calculators from the configurator but when I built a Disco last week it seems like APRs have gone up and residuals, weirdly, have gone down - result being monthlies are now sky high.

It was at the top of my budget when I ordered it so I’m slightly concerned it’ll be firmly out of budget now. That being said, residuals are so strong that it might be better just find a way of buying outright.

I don’t think he means that the dealers are cancelling orders - I presume it’s people cancelling their own orders as the cars are delayed and/or they don’t think there will be a big enough premium when the time comes to sell.

Oh no I did mean that JLR are cancelling some orders. I believe they have identified individuals who have ordered to flip. I don’t know how but it’s probably not that hard if you have the names and addresses which they do. My salesman said that they had cancelled a couple he knew of and then the result was ours will be ready in June. I know previously they had identified a group ordering a couple of cars from each franchise which they had imported to New Zealand prior to the official launch date and had marketed them at a huge mark up. This had caused issues for the official franchisees naturally. I believe they are trying their best to get cars to genuine customers.

I can’t answer about finance as I’m buying mine with savings. Santander. have good car loan rates.

Just saw this post on the new FFRR thread.
“If anyone has a build slot for one and has decided against it and wants to move it on please feel free to DM me. Had one ordered but as linked to motor trade my order has been cancelled. Not looking to flip it, looking to keep for 18/24 months.

Only stipulation is that its black any engine. “

I think this confirms what I said previously.

3 months and 2 days from paying deposit and got mine! No idea how/why so quick - they just gave me the dates, they met the dates, and you'd think none of this chip shortage/factory closure/12 month wait stuff was going on at all!

Myself and family absolutely love it. Only issue so far is we didn't get the key for the Pointless Ladder (although did for the Pointless Box), Rides beautifully on those wheels and the air suspension, tech is great (not tried it all out yet), sound system is way better than anything we'd had before, and its a very relaxing/smooth drive just wallowing about. Had it out on the dual carridgeway just now, and wind noise a lot higher than our demo car - but assume aforementioned Pointless Mandatory Accessories are behind that. That's what stereos are for anyway - and even though there is no roof rack (wouldn't clear wife's work carpark), there just had to be a ladder.

Lovely, happy, completely daft and impractical family car. Never actually *enjoyed* driving the family barge before - always been an A to B device not something you look over your shoulder at after parking it up....

I either saw this today (Nw London - harlesden / Park Royal area) or someone else has specced an identical one even with the same wheels?! It had the ladder!
