I was sat in ours today after dropping one of the kids off. It’s Santorini black and absolutely filthy, inside and out. You know what? It doesn’t matter it’s a Defender and bloody brilliant.
Does SB work without paying for ‘optional extra’ black parts on the car. What do they do about the roof and the bits that are currently non metallic gloss black? The contrast would be minimal?

We had a 110 ‘20 D240S for a year, bought second hand, and have replaced it with a new 400E last year. I gather some owners have had issues, but both cars have been relatively fault free for us. The Pivi Pro software gets regular updates and is remarkably good. Occasionally it needs a reboot, but otherwise it works well and the 360 cameras are excellent.

Needed a headlight replaced due to condensation, replaced in the space of a few weeks on warranty. The 400E has a pretty regular habit of not starting (always in EV mode) on the first press of the button. But it always starts on the second press when this happens.

They are supremely comfortable (both mine have had air). Rear seat legroom is crazy good, but this is at the expense of boot space, so do check that this isn’t an issue for you. And yes, I’m talking about the 110. My wife’s XC90 has much more.

But they drive very well, and are much more fun to drive than RRs and Discos IMHO.

As you mention boot space, how does it compare to the L405, assuming you have experience with it?

I’ve driven L405’s but haven’t lived with them, so no experience loading them I’m afraid.

This may sound daft - but I saw a 5 door Defender yesterday with white steelies on it.

I thought only the three door was available with steel wheels as the larger brakes on the 110 and 130 wouldn't fit?

Brake size depends on the engine, not 90 vs 110.

Sorry Mark just saw this. Mines an X Dynamic spec so the trim is all gloss black. It works really well with the Santorini Black. It was the same on my old RRS with black pack it just looks spot on with less contrast than if it was Matt black trim.

I absolutely love the new defender and a 110 X or V8 would be ideal.

In what is probably a rare cross shopping, I ended up buying an Aston DBX followed by a DBX 707 a year later.

However both cars have been painful in regards to reliability so maybe a “down grade” to a defender would be better for me? Which is ironic as reliability concerns are what out me off Land Rover in the first place.

Such a shame they don’t make the V8 in Pangea green!

I think a V8 in a metallic dark green wrap would be brilliant.

Thanks Mike. The dealer had no idea so I consulted the Defender2 forum and as you say the trim bits are solid Narvik Black and the roof is Santorini, ie; body colour).

That looks great. Somebody purchased some special wheels too. Are they fake or real beadlock wheels?

The dealer just fitted them. So they along with the tyres are brand new. They’re alloy copies of the traditional steel wheels

It looks superb. I can recommend the Vulkan side steps. I paid £295 for mine and fitted them myself. I was lucky enough to get mine with tread plates that say “Defender” in the correct text before JLR made them stop selling them. If you have the inclination they were very easy to fit. You need trim removal tools and I used a multi tool to cut a couple of slots for the brackets.

elise2000 your new Defender looks great - I am sure you will love it. I echo the sentiment about the steps, although I was a little lazy and got Vulkan to fit mine for me.
