Performance V8 4 ltr engine.
Discussion
Its not a TVR engine.
This was a Dyno result when first built.
Did have it on a Dyno recently but was too light and powerful for the dyno to give a reading.
It kept climbing out of the rollers and also spinning up.
I need to take it to one that uses the direct hub drive.
I know that the TVRs are getting more than this.

Still chewing the fat but looking like Rover 4ltr the best direction, we are stuck with this size to stay inside the rules as someone stated.
As we are in a production class the Rover V8 is looking the right choice and around 300bhp and 300ft lb torque will work fine with the Quaife 6 speed sequential box.
This is for a brand new Defender 110 we have in build at present.
Thanks for your help as i have no experience with the Rover V8, someone mentioned "flat plane crank" or something like that, your thoughts please.

I think you need to speak to some of the engine builders. A genuine 300hp and 300lb ft from a 4.0 litre, I reckon that might be a tall order. That's sort Works Team world rally type engines used in the 1980's... Can't see it being cheap. As we are in a production class the Rover V8 is looking the right choice and around 300bhp and 300ft lb torque will work fine with the Quaife 6 speed sequential box.

390hp from a Rover V8. Suspect a mortgage was involved
Do you have a dyno for it? Not doubting, but that seems a very high amount for an RV8. And certainly when you view the rolling road results in the TVR forum, few of them really make BIG numbers, no matter what's been done to them, or who built them.
No reason to doubt John's stated output. Mine's a John Eales lump too but just a 'mere' 4.8 and that's 320bhp with medium heads - could have gone for more power when built but would have been even more money and less drivable on road. Mine was built for my spec of needing to be usable on road and high torque 330+ on track etc.Do you have a dyno for it? Not doubting, but that seems a very high amount for an RV8. I'll take a wild guess a Rover would be similarly expensive to build and maintain.
Would be an interesting project though. I did look at this for the LS to try and reduce the capacity but it did look fairly ruinous and the probable need for balance shafts seemed more complicated than I wanted to deal with.

Never used them, but heard a lot about them and seem to be well respected on other forums:

I can vouch for them. - Stuart's a personal friend and has done quite a lot of work on my Disco 2 TD5. http://rocketsledtuning.webs.com/aboutus.htm
