New Discovery 5
Discussion
Having watched the Grylls sky diving trailer, it seems like they have done away with the three full rear seats. That's a major mistake by Land Rover, the full seats were always a big USP for the Disco.
Whole rear end seems narrower than the 4. Loading and rear visability look much worse.
Could we be heading for more style over substance?
And why or why do they use "Discovery" on the bonnet, it doesn't say X5 or Q7 or XC90 on the competition. It's a Land Rover - never mess with a brand.

Having googled some images of it, it's very different to the disco range, isn't it?
Looks rather like a large Disco Sport to me. Doesn't appeal to me at the current time.
It's easy to see how the disco evolved over time into the 4, but if I am looking at the right images of it, the 5 is a strange mutation, and looks more like a far eastern imitation 4x4
Seems to have lost some boot capacity too.
Are the designers also in charge of the new iPhone 7?
Will the doors really open like this, or was that just for display purposes?

I quite like it... :|
Edited to add: be interesting to see what engine options they offer.
Will launch with a twin turbo IL4 which has just been launched in the Range Rover Sport. 240bhp and will probably be much lighter than the outgoing D4, so expect performance to be adequate. Edited to add: be interesting to see what engine options they offer.

To name the new Freelander(3) a Discovery was a branding error, and then to make the new Discovery(5) look exactly the same shows little imagination.
Where has the innovative spirit of Land Rover gone?
Defender gone, yet to be replaced, all their SUVs look the same and why hasn't Land Rover got anything to compete with the growing Double Cab Pick Up market?
We've waited years for this.....at least it will help residuals of the D3 & D4

Messing with the rear seat widths seems regressive. The previous 35/30/35 proportions made it one of few cars in this category that can properly work with 3 child seats across the row.
They seem to have changed it to a much narrower middle seat and a 60/40 split in terms of folding ability.
