defender 110 v8 4.2 sc build info please
Discussion
Hi,
I bought the parts to connect the engine at www.automotivecomp.com and it all fitted well.
So now I have the 4.2 sc engine and 4HP24xx gearbox in the 110 body for measuring.
Putted the gearbox in the original hight and placed it horizontal (for driveshaft wear), but 10cm backwards.
The engine is horizontal also now, and apart from some simple body adjustments (at the new jaguar exhausts) all can be fitted.
There is just enough steeringhouse clearance, and a lot of space for the radiators in the front.
And it looks like I can put the Original bonnet on again, which I would really like.
In this configuration the engine sump (RR sport) sticks out 7 cm under the chassis, where the front-axle goes.
Next step is to put the axle in place, and alter the bumpstops.
Question: Looking at the from-above-taken-pictures from JE and Twisted site, their engine is placed much higher in the body ad not horizontal.
Why did they put the engine/gearbox that high, which is of course possible, but neccessary?
If you have some advice or pictures, like from the underneath-bottomview, that would be very helpfull.
Keep in mind, I don't use the car for (heavy) off road.
