New Defender (rant)

I 've just seen the press release pictures and I HATE IT WITH A PASSION well some of it they've dumped the defender badge! and the fresh air vents! and put a poxy (i've driven a new tranny and hate this engine)blue badge engine in it.
:sulkmode: why not fit the new TDV8? be same across all the fleet then.

Rant over with, the new rear seats in the 110 look good and I'll wait to see one in the flesh to see how much more they've shaved off the classic.

Don't know too much about the interior, but the poxy blue badge engine was (as near as damn it) designed and developed by the same people who did the TDV8...

When you drove the Tranny was it the 85ps/250Nm 2.2 or the 140ps/375Nm 2.4 (or one the many variants in between)?

I'm not sure which engine it was .

The more I look at this the more I think Landrover have forgotten the roots of the classic.

So do I. I'm more upset about the cosmetic changes then the engine. It just seems that the Landrover community are screaming out for a diesel V8 and what do we get?

Off topic did you or have you ever worked with these?

Imagine how well Rover/Perkins would have done if they'd managed to keep the heads on!
My mate has one of these babies in his workshop it sits there gathering dust.
