Has anyone heard any more about the £617m additional support? Has the Govt issued any further guidance to Councils, or is there a risk Councils will just use this as a slush fund? smile
Still waiting...........

As above. The government guidance that was supposed to have been sent through to LAs last week was postponed to an undefined date this week. Then once the guidance has been sent through, it'll probably take a few more days at least for LAs to decide how to interpret that guidance and how they're going to administer the grants.

Pure speculation, but do you think they have held off because they are looking to implement an easier policy that is more far reaching - possibly a rates holiday for all companies up to 51k, that haven't already had a benefit.

It appears rates are the medium for getting money to companies easily with some form of basis to a tenants fiscal structure. it becomes more evident everyday that a huge part of our economy is going to be in some sort of coma for a long period of time.

Maybe they have had some push back from LA's as we do not have the data to award this money available on our systems

Does anyone else here think that the among all the other st you have to deal with as a business owner the onus on protecting employees from an invisible disease now falls upon the employer is a bit much?

We now need to carry out a COVID-19 risk assessment, put one way systems, barriers, hand gel, yada yada yada.

Are businesses expected to bear the cost of this too?

Just to update on our situation, we finally received the grant yesterday, so that is at least going to be helpful.

Still worried about the future and opening up, but we are not the only ones as this thread is showing.

Good luck to anyone else with the same problem.

Neil.

Depends on how you look at it.

I work along side my staff, so in effect I am putting in measures to protect myself.

I've moved a step closer, I've been in touch with a very helpful chap at Aylesbury Vale District Council who has given me the rates number I need to apply for the SBRR, and he will let me know when that's gone through so that I can apply for the grant with all the conditions met.

Prolex, any rumours that they'll make another Grant? Given the lockdown will be extended and I see no blue sky until the year end.

We're all still waiting on news from the Gov about the extension to the current scheme!

So the furlough scheme is being extended, any bets on whether the self employed grants will get the same treatment?

I've got my registered office at a family office building site which we've been there for 3 years. They are almost finished.

I missed the "free money" Mk1 because we are not on the rates office paperwork.

Would it be worthwhile me adding the company to the rates office if they're going to do round 2.

Presumably a load of peasant businesses are going to hit the wall otherwise (rent) and this won't be covered by the other govt schemes.

Or is it all loans now. I wonder.

Not sure tbh

Lack of guidance is a bugger

I wasn't on the rating register (maintained by the VOA) when the grants were first announced. I got my grant today. You can read my posts in this thread to see how I did it.

It seems very council-dependent. The strict letter of the rules says that back-dates changes aren’t necessarily allowed. But some councils are more inclined to find a way around that than others.

He won't know til he tries. If he tries and is refused then that would definitely be the time to get his MP involved he he hadn't done already by that time.
