That's as a spread bet though right? Not actually 'owning' the shares?
What's that regarding? If it was my Partygaming I'd bought the shares at 40p, could have sold at 58p and then ended up closing at 43p after a profit warning was issued.
IG Index? (is that what iii stands for?)

Do any of the afforementioned websites for purchasing shares allow you to set stop losses and whatever the upwards equivalent is? As in, could I buy shares at 100, and then set it up to automatically sell if they go to 100 - x% or automatically sell if they go to 100 + x%?
Those would be limit orders wink

iii allows you to set those orders and it's one of the cheapest around for commission charges online (I don't work for iii by the way smile)
So, who are iii? Sounds like what I was looking for.

Don't know if you searched for them - if you had you'd have found they're not IG index. They're called "Interactive Investor" - they offer CFDs, spread betting and share dealing where you take ownership of the shares. I think they're one of the cheapest online brokers around. They're pretty good and they even have a discussion board and Javacharts so you can plot things such as Fibonacci retracements and so on. Here's their site if you haven't found it yet.

checked out Tanfield a month ago... and they were striking!... but the price was still rising after that major deal...
but after buying into 2 trusts 3 days ago to add to the 2 already had, they're dropping with the 3 consecutive FTSE days' drop and i might get atleast 3 stop losses triggered all at once before saturday frown
Perhaps try Tanfield with a small stake - perhaps not tomorrow as there may be some profit taking after today's rise. If you bought at today's low and sold at the high you'd have made about 13% - but this sort of stuff needs a crystal ball. I bought in a few weeks ago at what I thought was a high price - 154p but they've still risen despite faling below my purchase price a few times. At 150p Morgan Stanley set a target of 250p which they set months ago (today Tanfield closed at 184p) and that was before today's announcement - so who knows what it could be now? I'm holding for the next 2 weeks but as ever DYOR. I just wish some of my other stuff was doing half as well as Tanfield.

Out of interest though, what trusts are you using? Have you made much out of them in the past percentage wise and is there a minimum investment requirement?
Tanfield was quickly scratched from the list as my account's ISA wrapped and it is (was?!) AIM listed...
:S
trusts:
bought CYN, MAJE, PAC, PHI,
considering TEM....?
think i went in a bit heavy on the trusts as it's been too close to selling in the last few days (after only buying in a few days before frown
...so busily looking for some gold and oil stocks to balance the portfolio - will Rio go to £46? (and oil futures for august are above $70/barrel - get those jerry cans filled now!)

Tanfield are AIM listed.

Rio going to £46? I was a holder of Rio - got bored of them and sold for a profit before they skyrocketed the following week. £46 is possible at some point but I don't think it'll happen this year at least. In my opinion the price has been inflated by take-over deals as Rio was never able to sustain such high prices in the past. I'd personally be shorting them medium to long term as i'd be expecting it to come down to about £28 where it was pre-takeover news. Although if a deal goes through, prices will increase, but not to £46 as I think a lot of the expectation is already built into the price. Sorry if that doesn't quite give you a clear answer to buy/sell tongue out

seen some awesome looking AIMers but.... (praps next year!...prob not, the money will all be blown on the dream car by then and shares will be long gone!)

B.

And W.

Let's do it.

I may be able to rustle up a P if the info is hot enough. No promises though.

Who's buying the red braces and double breasted suits though?

I'm in COH too, bought in at 20p and 37p, nice little earner, still holding.

My tips are Tullow Oil (TLW), Bede (BED) and BIFFA (BIFF)

All of which are where my mouth is!

Also bought Corporate Synergy (CSG), Sterling Energy (SEY)

Been holding and accumulating Desire Petroleum (DES)
DES is a massive 'punt' one for the very brave, potentially huge though.

DYOR of course.

Regards,
Just a quick heads up, but don't suppose anyone bought DES shares did they?

I've been accumulating since Nov 2004, and i'm finally seeing some action!

Bought at following prices
39p 45p (placing) 58.5p 42.5p and just topped up again at 81p selling once along the way at 61p

Good luck people.

Don't be such a dick, I was not ramping at all, I was merely pointing out that i'd tipped them a while back and they're finally seeing some action.

And for your information I only hold TLW and DES out of the ones I mentioned back in July (thankfully)

I think you missed that his post (and mine) was squarely aimed at another poster smile

Oh!

I thought he was pointing at the other shares i'd mentioned. As it happens, lost quite a bit on Bede, am finally 'well' into profit on Desire though. It's a fantastic opportunity, but very risky.

DYOR as usual.
