Just seen this. I assume this isn't in addition to the ones Prolex mentioned.

So yet again Rishi misses out 1.6 million of us self employed that set up to work from home in 2019 so don't have enough history to qualify for any funding. Yay! Absolutely fantastic. Looks like I'm not paying my bills again as Universal Credit (the only other option) isn't even enough to pay for the mortgage and food. Fabulous. Thanks so much for that non announcement.

Just read that these are in addition so with a rateable value of less than £51k it should be a one off payment of £4k and £667 per fortnight on top.

Jimmy. What do you do and do you have business premises? If so you should get the grants.

My business is doing OK in all honesty (web development). But I know of a few marketing and digital agencies that are really struggling and have struggled to get grants because they're in co-working offices or Regus buildings.

THERE ARE oops grants to help these types of set ups

They need to contact their local councils business rates teams or business development teams for guidance

the grants for the Tier based grants are discretionary so the LA's can assist these types of business if they choose to.

There is another grant called ARG where the LA gets £20 (maybe £40) a head of population in a one off payment to help deal with CV19 issues has to last this fin year plus the next two

hope this helps

£9,000 for businesses with a rateable value of over £51,000
So the closed retailer still has to pay the remainder of the rateable value, pay the lease rental, all fixed overhead commitments and also the admin for the furloughed staff...

Anything stopping you finding a salaried job? Taken a mortgage holiday? (if not renting).

When dealing with you council please give them some slack in delays over the grant schemes.

So far they have got to administer the following

1) Tier grants from when placed in tier 2 or 3

2) The closed grant scheme for November to December

3) top up grants for wet pubs over X-mas

4) Tier 2 or 3 grants for December up until today with potential Tier 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 grants in the middle

5) The new Tier 5 stuff

What they do not say is they are expecting LA's to do pre & post payment checks as well. The hint being if not done the LA may not be reimbursed...

I think if you tried to make up a scheme to be difficult you would struggle to beat this pile of pooh

Thanks Prolex. So looks like for low value business property we'll get a £4k one off being in non essential retail and £667 per forntnight. I assume these are being paid separately by the councils?

My neighbour runs a pre/post school club for the local primary school, using their school hall (or a church hall).

So far she says that she's been entitled to nothing whatsoever apart from furloughing her staff in March last year. This doesn't seem right to me, is she missing something? Her accountant is one of the old and bold who has cost her a couple of quid with pants advice previously, he says that she isn't eligible for anything at all, but would be keen to make sure she has the right info via the hive mind of PH.

She's in Leicestershire if it makes any odds as a sole trader.

They should contact the council directly as

There is a specific grant available for Nurseries (its a relief really) its should be backdateable to 1/4/2020 this will be shown on her bill if they have it.

For grants the first set of grants have closed now. We paid people in this situation.

The next phase of grants were not based on use or RV but if they were open or closed so if mandated to close by the Govt they should get it.

Not 100% sure on Tier 5 as guidance only just come out

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/46-billion-in-n...

I would suggest she asks the Council about the ARG grant which is discretionary and may be of some help to her.

They may want to change accountants as on what you say she lost out big time 9if she is the ratepayer0

I've got a client who runs a franchised kids dancing business in school halls etc. She said her franchisees have received nothing except BBL opportunities. They've been shut for all but 3 months since this all began.

I'd be interested to know if that's not the case.

If not liable for Business rates they can claim for the Tier grants as they are discretionary

Idea of the discretionary bit is LA's can help people based on local conditions

Have they contacted the local councils ?

I don't think so. I think they just presumed that as they weren't given any rateable grants, nothing would be available.

I will pass this along.

Thankyou!
