Hypothetically, I would be interested in you joining the business as an FD, prepare for a sale, manage the transaction, complete and then exit. I would also want to structure the pay relatively low with big bonuses based on sale value. Just coming on board as a consultant or 'part of the team' I couldn't see working, you would need to 'take the reigns' so to speak.

Have you considered that as a way of marketing yourself?

I also agree with Crofty, I would expect you to be working on a part time consultancy basis for more than one client.

I don't think that it would be practical to work on one client full time, mainly becasue you will have idle time waiting for client staff and external professionals to respond to your instructions. You'd need other clients to be working on while waiting for people to come back to you with responses.

I do understand that part of your package is to get right under the skin of the client business, and you will not be able to do this right if you're spread too thinly. But full time on one client will probably be too much, so there's a balance to be struck.
