France in turmoil (again)
Discussion
Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned and I can’t find any of the previous threads on France
Following on from the proposed pension age rise to 64 and not being able to get it through Parliament, Macron has invoked the constitution to force it through … and France has erupted so he then banned protests … so the protests intensified and apparently the electric company workers have turned off the power to his residence!
He now he faces a vote of no confidence in his Government tomorrow which he may lose
So what happens then?
Will he soldier on a powerless lame leader or will he resign and a snap election?
Interesting thread here:

Just spoken with my daughter who’s at Uni in France.
The riot police are acting waaaay beyond their needs in her city at the moment.
Classes were placed back online and group work has been done in the pub as the Uni isn’t safely accessible.
The basis of the protests, however, increasing retirement age from 62 to 64 , when many don’t retire as late as 62 anyway …. Pity the UK didn’t riot when it was increased from 65 to 67, eh?
French sentiment is Macron will be out very soon.

I was surprised that they voted the cretin back in. I’m guessing it’ll go the way of most French protests where there’ll be lots of fights and destruction followed by bugger all change.
I think they are regretting it, all the dark talk of Le Penn And a right wing Armageddon , they look at Italy and see things aren’t what the woke left were forecasting …
Maybe next time !!’

Lots of disaffection at the status quo
Vote for the 'Change Candidate'
Go berserk when he proposes changing something
Set fire to your pigs
Repeat
Here in France the locals say this could be as big as the 1968 student riots.
I bloody hope not because friends who remember say the country was paralysed for months.
They are pissed about having to work longer, they are equally as pissed that Macron,as they see it,side stepped the democratic process.
