Has anyone any experience of any of the 4 week domestic electricians courses available? They all seem to offer the same qualifications & suggest that you should be able and qualified to start work on domestic properties. Just wondering if they are to be trusted & what the quality of training is like

Cheers

Try the screwfix forum, there's an electricians' section
www.screwfix.com/talk/index.jspa?forumTab=forums&ts=84484
You will need to register in order to ask your question, and you should be prepared for some stroppy answers, but someone might have some useful info

A time served electrician can expect to spend 2-3 years studying whilst working to obtain the relevant C&G's. I presume you are referring to a Part P Domestic installer course?. A good a starting place as any for a new career I guess but if you think you will be fully qualified to take on the world after 4 weeks then boy, are you in for a shock.

Lets put it another way - this site is full of people complaining bitterly about the general standard of driving in this country - yet the people they complain about have all passed a test and have a licence to drive - does that mean they are competant and well equipped to do so?.

QED

Best of luck, whatever you choose. beer

Having been on the wrong end of both 240v and 415v tickles, I chose and used the words advisedly.
