Online Accounting Aptitude Tests...
Discussion
I am currently brushing away the cob-webs and practicing for an online mathematical aptitude test and was wondering if anyone knows of any online resources.
I have found 3 tests at efinancialcareers.com but hoped there may be more lurking around.
Any replies (or advice for that matter) welcomed.
Thanks
Philip

I did a few of those last year. There's some practise questions on the PwC site I think. They all use the same provider so the questions are pretty much the same format. KPMG was really hard (they gave 8 options) some how I passed even though I decided to give up and guess the second half of it. RBS is also tough but i'm guessing you may not be applying there. I did a quick search online and found a few links that may be of help.

The best advice I can give is to take your time studying the questions and charts. The most obvious answer is usually the wrong one. Also don't worry if you don't answer every question, they don't expect people to finish it - just try and ensure the questions you answer are correct. But don't only answer 2 questions The maths is nothing complicated - so need to brush up on your logarithms and trigonometry. I'm just dreading having to take the tests again this year. There's also verbal reasoning tests - but if you have any questions about that, feel free to ask. PwC also did a nice one with flow charts and letter patterns that changed - I liked those and I think I was one of the best performers at my assessment day on that

I found another here http://www.shl.com/SHL/en-int/Products/TestTrials.... with both verbal reasoning and numerical tests. I scored high 80's on my first go so still some room for improvement (I think they are a little easier than some of the others you mention.http://www.assessmentday.co.uk/aptitudetests_numer...

Thanks Again.

SHL are the "official" company that the accountancy firms tend to use for their online tests. I haven't tried the test out as it says I only get one go and want to use it for when it comes round to the time when I have to do the tests. The verbal reasoning is basically a passage and a question and you have to select the correct answer to the question. It's very simple, just the trick is to read the question first and then scan through the text to find the answer. Keep it a secret
High 80s are more than good enough, especially if you finish the whole thing. I remember at my PwC assessment day I seemed to really be struggling with the numerical test and I don't think I got through half of it and I was still above average. The practise tests are easier than the real ones I recall, but they're pretty much the same style so they'll help. I remember this one question which related to ferry timetables and moving from dover to calais and time differences - I was terrible at that (I can't even understand bus time tables )
Out of interest, where have you applied to?
