Erm, not really sure if anyone is going to know this or not but... There's a company I know called Tansomething that is Tanzanian, and is 100% blood diamond-free. Does anyone know the name of the company?

Thanks.

hmm.....be very very wary. Personally I think the only way of buying a diamond guaranteed to be 'blood diamond free' as it's so charmingly put, is to buy direct from a mine in Australia or Canada. The MINUTE diamonds have left the mine lands then any further claim made is worthless. You can do as much as possible to ensure they have not been through a conflict area, but again this just isn't an easily 'guaranteed' property. Russia produce lots of diamonds too, but some of their practices are currently under investigation (well kinda like 99% of what Russian 'business' is currently up to!)

I am now deliberately sourcing diamonds from areas other than Africa....but given the amount of time that rough diamodns spend out of the eyes of anyone who isn't in their cartell, absolutely guaranteeing that the same diamonds came out of the process as went in would be unethical IMO. but very few people share my sense of fair play so am sure lots will be advertising and 'guaranteeing' their blood free stones smile

Blood diamonds are illegal....surely De Beers is "blood Diamond" free too!!!!
It depends what your definition of 'Blood Diamond' is too.

De Beers is fact traded in diamonds from west africa around until the phrase 'Blood Diamonds' was commonly used. Of course, this is a bit of a paradox as if they hadn't bought so many from there is the first place then the phrase may not have existed.

However, from that point they have denied buying 'Blood Diamonds'. smile
