Ok, so I want to buy some shares......

What's the best way of going about it? I haven't a clue wher to start and don't want to get tied into some monthly subscription or anything like that I just want to buy some shares in a company and hang on to them for a while.....

Anyone?

I used to dabble in stock's big time (for me) max investment was £30K in any one company, but after taking a rather big 'hit' I have been into property for quite a number of years, it's a lot safer.

Don't invest what you cannot afford to lose.

I only want to dabble, nothing serious. The shares of a company who I used to work for years ago hit rock bottom 6 months ago but are starting to pick up again, and I have worked in the market that they are in for 7 years so I know the industry well, and based on what they are doing I reckon they'll make a good comeback.

And hey, everyone's got to start somewhere don't they.
