i guess it'd be =ROUNDUP(SUM(a10:a100),num_digits) but haven't got excel here to try it.

Doesn't need to be so complicated. Just select the cell that contains =SUM(a10:a100) and then click either one of those buttons to round up or down.

yeah, but rounding 6.24 twice (to 7) and adding the total comes to 13 which doesn't look good on a bid

That doesn't round it just changes the format - so you can create column of numbers that don't add up to the total as the sum function will use the original value rather than the formatted value.

do you want to round or roundUP?
either way you'll have to round each value in another column (or row) and then sum them up.

val rounded
a) 1.6 2
b) 2.7 3
c) 4.8 5

total 9.1 10

I thought the roundup went on the end of the sum :roundup,2 or something like that.

you could do that but that's rounding up the answer not the inputs - it's not the same thing (maybe that's what the OP meant but ti thought he wanted to round up the inputs not the answer)

if you want to just round the answer the syntax is:

=round(sum(a1:a2),1)
or the equiv roundup function
(which is what d-mike said)

Sometimes it does.
If he's then doing a calculation on the result the calculation wouldn't take the rounded up value just because it looks rounded on the screen.
