In all fairness, there are some nice "mods" there from jailbroken older iphones (afaik not yet possible on the iPhone 5), but the majority just show off some picture they set as their background .
This thread does highlight just how badly iOS needs a serious refresh...it looks much the same as it did five years ago. Even my iPhone loving friends are starting to express their displeasure at how little each generation moves things along. One thing that threads like this re-inforce for me is that many peoples ideas of aesthetics and useability are not particularly good - I mean most of the Android personalisations that people do is pretty horrible, definitely a personal tastes thing.

I won't disagree, I get bored of things very easily, but the fact is functionally it works well and it's simple.

Hmm, aesthetics is one thing (and very personal), but how would you define "usability"? What screen on here has worse "usability" than, for example, the iPhone? One thing that threads like this re-inforce for me is that many peoples ideas of aesthetics and useability are not particularly good - I mean most of the Android personalisations that people do is pretty horrible, definitely a personal tastes thing.
As for "horrible", I wouldn't say any on here are particularly horrible, though most are just personal. Anyway, I like this thread as it has shown me and teached me some new things I could do .

It is just personal taste in most cases, but I admit, I have some weird OCD thing going on with things like phone homescreens and computer desktops.... if they don't look pretty and they aren't in some ways usable then it really, REALLY grinds my teeth, and I must admit, a lot of the ones shown here (no offence) are NOT a pretty sight... but if it works for them, who am I to criticise Anyway I've pretty much finished mine, for now, I'll make tweaks here and there, but ultimately, I have the layout and design I like.... I'll try and get some refreshed screenshots up...

I have to admit, yours looks very clean and nice, but for me, I just like to put more on one screen so that I have less screens, it's a matter of preference.
The keywords here are "choice" and "personalisations".

I used to be a big fan of having everything on one screen actually, but I've found since I can set up my dock into "categories" I now prefer having less on each screen.
Minimalism FTW

How do you do that? Is it just folders with text instead of icons? Looks nice.
Use Nova launcher (other launchers probably can do this too). Then you create "Nova Shortcuts", which correspond to a screen number (Jump to screen #).
Then you edit the icons with your own icons, and drag them to your dock.
Press icon to go to that screen, et voila
Let me know if you need any help with anything.

I got mine from an app on the Play Store called "ThaIconUltimate", but it does have missing icons (on the text versions), so I would see if you can find any alternatives (and if you do, let me know). There are also apps that can create text based icons, but I didn't have great results with some of these (and I'm lazy).
The icons I use for my apps is called DCikonZ pack (again on play store) - its a theme for the popular Home launchers.
