I've got 2x 34" and a 15" on my machine. Then there's a 27" to connect any of the laptops to
I wouldn't be able to fit that in my office full stop One 34" does the job for me just about!
It'll be crap when I do eventually have to go back and use a 23" FHD monitor in the office
To those who have awesome monitors for their work from home setup, are those sponsored by work?
There are some people at my work saying that they should be provided proper home working equipment (monitors, keyboard, mouse, , chairs worth over a grand, fancy standing desks etc). I wonder how many company will cater for this.

We have Herman Miller chairs at work, one of which is on loan to me at home. A sit/ stand desk of a custom size is on its way, provided by work.
Likewise a monitor has been provided. We were all free to take what we needed for home working, obviously it still belongs to the company.
Admittedly not every one is getting a new desk, but I was off work maybe 3 months at the end of last year with a very severe back issue, so it’s considerably cheaper for them to provide equipment to minimise a reoccurrence than it is for me not to be in.

My company is providing an additional £30/month "homeworking costs" which I'm certain goes nowhere other than to the electricity company.
Haven't you got a PI 4 driving your setup? That at least is low power.Say electricity is £.15/KWh
That £30 pays for 200KWh.
20 working days in a month, so 10KWh/day.
Unless you're running a small HPC cluster you should be fine.
What I'm discovering can be a surprising power hog are older CCFL backlit LCD screens, which also weren't too much fun to be near at the height of summer due to the heat given off.

Yes, 2 of them hang off the Pi4, another off a PiZero (I am trying to get that to monitor my UPS), and the others are my laptop screen plus 2 more that it drives.
The screens are all freebies and it is almost an exercise in how to mount them - I've had a couple of mounts custom welded-up, and then I'm using my drum-rack clamps and cheap VESA plates. It's not finished yet. I'll post a pic when it is.

If you kick up a fuss, company should provide you the basics on H&S grounds if you have no choice but to work at home. A basic option could be a laptop stand to raise the screen to eye level which would satisfy DSE assessment. And then if you could justify why you needed a 2nd screen you could plonk that next to it.There are some people at my work saying that they should be provided proper home working equipment (monitors, keyboard, mouse, , chairs worth over a grand, fancy standing desks etc). My organisation gave us a small allowance to buy basics so I got a £65 chair and a £10 mouse. Ironically I don't use either of them very much because the Mrs, also WFH, bags the study with the chair and desk (no monitor) and I get the kitchen table, sofa, garden etc.

My equipment is all my own, it's my gaming setup! Which gets used more for work than what I bought it for. There are some people at my work saying that they should be provided proper home working equipment (monitors, keyboard, mouse, , chairs worth over a grand, fancy standing desks etc). The company I work for (large government owned organisation) have offered to do a video conference with somebody who assesses your working environment, so I did and got a chair out of it.
I don't have the space for any more desks/monitors or else would of taken them up on that. We have 3 monitors at work, restricted to a laptop + 21" screen at home. Moving houses soon so hopefully I can get a proper setup in the new house although we are expected to return to the office in January.

Is that a Herman Miller? It looks like a camping chair...
Haha. Very good. Yes it is HM Sayl chair. Very comfortable and more aesthetically pleasing in a home environment than the aeron in my opinion. Whatever floats your boat I guess. The only thing I don’t like about it is it is a sod to dust. anxious_ant said:

Contractor here so sponsored by my limited co and I can buy what I want for whatever it costs providing it’s legitimate business equipment. There are some people at my work saying that they should be provided proper home working equipment (monitors, keyboard, mouse, , chairs worth over a grand, fancy standing desks etc). Employers differ but in my experience many of them seem to think working off a laptop all day is fine, whereas others take occupational health very seriously and will make reasonable provisions to help make your home working more comfortable.
I think it generally reflects what you see in the office. If desks are setup with decent well maintained workstations and larger size and/or multiple screens (recognising productivity and ergonomic gains) good chairs etc then you can have higher expectations than if everyone works off an ultra portable and sits on a £25 chair.
