I had the Nexus out in the garden recently and I'd say that it's too reflective to use in the sunlight for reading. The Kindle is much better in this respect.
Agreed I have both kindle is great for reading and the battery life is awesome I have the 3g version and is worth the extra. Nexus I use for movies/youtube/mail don't have or like fancy mobile phones.

You need to enable installing apps from Unknown sources under security settings.

That means it doesn't do it as far as I'm concerned, as I'm not going to spend hours faffing around with obscure hacks and bodges. I read the thread you posted about flash and it sounds like people are having all sorts of problems. Without that it's without iPlayer, for the time being anyhow, and that's a deal-breaker for me.

I need to see the Nexus side-by-side with the Blackberry PlayBook, I think the latter might suit my needs better and I'm not worried about the lack of social apps, but both seem to have their share of issues.
Little update:
Rooting is a case of pressing a few buttons on a rootkit program, "not hours faffing with obscure hacks".
In any case, if you want extra storage whats wrong with something like dropbox ? you can easily get quite a bit of storage from them for free.

Flash works with no root, works fine with firefox on mine.

Not done it yet but theres an Iplayer fix posted here over the last page or so.

I love how you can expand the bookmarks widget to fit a whole page.

Anyone with a Panasonic TV get panasonictvmedia.

Any ideas when this case is coming out or if its available elsewhere perhaps:

Here on the continent we still can't order one, very sloppy from a company like Google to leave such a market untapped imho.

I want to have a go on one but I can't be bothered to go through the "grey" import again.

Had mine since yesterday and its great! Really enjoying jellybean in stock form rather than my one x with HTC sense.

Only issue so far is I have the slight screen lift problem on the left side of my screen but I'm really not sure whether its worth doing anything about.

The graphics on 'Dead Trigger' really are quite astonishing for a tablet.

I've also side loaded the Photoshop tablet app since its not yet officially available for the N7.

How does it compare to the 'new' Ipad?

I currently have a 'cheap' 7" tablet and am thinking of upgrading to either this or pushing the boat out for a 'new' ipad. GPS is needed though so it would have to be the 3G version of Ipad (with the associated higher cost).

The tablet I have runs ICS, but will not run everything on Google Play, whereas Ipad stuff seems to 'just work' with no messing about, is this the case with the Nexus 7?

Thanks in advance

Lee

The thing is the Nexus 7 is about half the price of the new iPad so they're not really made to compete. If you asked whether the iPad is worth double the price...I'm not so sure.

There are a few app compatibility issues as the latest android jellybean is so new, however considering the popularity of this tablet I would expect the problems to be solved fairly soon.

They are two different products, it's not an iPad competitor at all, it costs about half as much, is half the size, and is about half as good!

I think the opposite is true with the apps, its too new for alot of apps/sites to work with it yet, and it's very buggy

Thanks for the reply and I know you can not really compare the 2 but everyone does!

After looking at a Nexus 7 today I was very impressed with the speed and screen compared to my 7" tablet (mind you mine was only £105).

Sod's law dictates that if I get an iPad a new one will come out soon after!

Oh the agony of choice!

4th iPad shouldn't be out until sometime next March. They like to stick to their usual product cycles.

Wouldn't agree with the "half as good". Its more customisable than an ipad and with a few bits and bobs is more functional too - usb otg is quite a bonus.

Buggy ? its not buggy at all, mine hasn't crashed or even force closed an app. The only app I haven't been able to load is the official flickr one, other than that everything works just fine.

Ordered mine from ebuyer as Play store wanted to charge a Tenner for delivery. I don't mind if I get it a little later. I just want one for £200. No more.
