Just been considering the Galaxy S2 over the iphone 4 on a new contract, however I just discovered that even though the screen is much larger the resolution is lower than both the iphone and the HTC Sensation! Has this made any difference to anyone here that owns one? This is the only thing putting me off signing up.

If you look closely then yes, you can see it is a little less sharp than the iphone, but everything looks huge in comparison, which makes it a joy to use. I actually prefer the screen on the S2 to the iphone 4.

The screen is much better than the i4 tbh.

I'm more leaning towards this being a fact than opinion.

Agree mostly I am preferring my galaxy in comparison to my iphone 4 screen though it can sometimes be over saturated, for example google green focus rs on your samsung! eek

So end of the day. I used to have a Desire on Oxygen 2.1.x rom and I am getting better battery life on this phone than I did with that !!!!

Would the SGSII be recommended over the Sony Ericsson Arc?

Well I've never used the Arc... but I'd put my last phone in the same ball park as the Arc, the last phone being an HTC Incredible S, single core, 4" SLCD screen, 8mp camera... well its not too shabby but the SGS2 is a decent step up, mainly in terms of speed and responsiveness. The SGS2 will be MUCH more future proof with its dual core and 1Gb RAM. Indeed, the SGS2 is looking like a fair bit more powerful than even the new Sensation....

I wouldn't go for any sony ericsson now, There's far too many problems with them, every single person i know that has/had one has complaints about them or has had replacements due to faults.

Must say, I'm extremely tempted to switch to htc sensation, or the GS2 at upgrade time from my iphone4, but i know fine I'll want the next iphone when it's released.

Where is the cheapest place that has sim free or pay as you go on this phone?

What is the GPS like on the SGS2? I've read about a fair few problems with other Galaxy models, mainly not being able to lock and keep a fix on satellites, and very poor accuracy around 60-90m.
Also, what's the sound quality like from the earphone out?

Had a play with this yesterday in store, hugely impressed to the point I rang O2 to see if I could change from my iPhone, alas I cannot for a good few months

I get GPS fix within a few seconds (keep GPS turned on all the time) and I have got a fix to 10ft indoors. Really impressed by the GPS speed and accuracy.

Nice screen but does it have to be so big, need two hands to hold the thing. Hope the new iphone wont be as big as this brick.

Like Tycho said the GPS to what i've used (which ain't a lot tbh)is excellent dont know about accuracy but its certanly quick, the headphones i would give a 9/10 certainly better than my itouch which some apple fanboys may not like but to me they sound effin amazing!

Worst thing with this phone so far for me is the shockingly weak wifi strength I'm getting.

Thanks chaps, it's mainly the GPS I was worried about, but it seems as it has been sorted on the SGS2.
