Slight early scare on mine when first night it lost loads of charge overnight. Googled and saw it's a known issue to do with mobile network.
I turned off adaptive connectivity as many posts suggest and rebooted. Thankfully last night's overnight drain was a much more normal around 10%. Might not have been the setting change. I did activate 5g on my SIM which might be related.
Will keep an eye on it as main reason for buying was battery.

They are really quite clever these phones.
My Mrs dropped my old Pixel 5 down the toilet this morning. No worries I thought, it's waterproof. She blew out the charging port, but it came up on the screen that 'water is detected in the USB port'. Chucked it on a luke warm radiator for 10 minutes then it comes up saying it's ok to use again!
I was really Quite impressed!

My 4 XL and 5 used to do that when going out on my bike. My Mrs dropped my old Pixel 5 down the toilet this morning. No worries I thought, it's waterproof. Have you made a video call on WhatsApp or Duo yet...?
Yes - they've been absolutely fine!I'm tempted to open this new one I have then. I was thinking of jumping to a Samsung S22 Ultra but there seem to be several issues with those too - enough to make me unwilling to drop £1k+ on one at this stage.
I guess I can always still sell my 6 Pro as nearly new if it's still not right.

Not withstanding some of the current OS issues, battery life will improve over the next week+ as it learns your usage patterns.I turned off adaptive connectivity as many posts suggest and rebooted. You mentioned about VF customer service, off-shoring CS kinda does that...i was with them for years then herself took the account over - she figured out it was best to phone around 9am and you'd get someone in Ireland or fellow Glaswegians at time. Never had much call to actually contact them outside of renewal time for the most part, and up until EE took over the first responders contract from them, they had by far the best coverage here.

Yeah, battery already stabilised and all good now.You mentioned about VF customer service, off-shoring CS kinda does that...i was with them for years then herself took the account over - she figured out it was best to phone around 9am and you'd get someone in Ireland or fellow Glaswegians at time. I'm pleased I stuck with Giffgaff. I like the no contract flexibility and can easily up my data if I need it. Still working from home so use very little data these days.

The main draw of Pixels for me is the camera (had a few printed out at 8" x 10" recently and they give a very good printed image) so the new bigger sensors are a real draw at the moment...Must. Resist.

Updating on this at seems to be a topic discussed a bit elsewhere. I decided to turn adaptive connectivity back on and 5g as I think I was hasty to start changing settings. Battery life is now fine (and indeed excellent). Been out and about and seems here in Essex with Giffgaff/O2 5g coverage seems to be pretty good. Not had the March software update yet.

I've just installed Lawnchair + Lawnfeed launcher on my Pixel 5 which is basically the Pixel launcher but the ability to hide apps and do some customisation.
How do you find the animations, and pulling up the recently used apps overview and using it to flick between apps?I have not been keeping up with this thread. So apologies if this has been covered
But there was a dreadful bug in the last version of operating system on pixel 5. Phone would notify me of emails it had previously notified me of. This would happen every time a new email came in. Instead of phone beeping ones, it would beep for all the unread emails and would drive me fking nuts. I tried to change all sorts of settings to no avail.
Thankfully it has disappeared since last update which I've been using for a few days
This seriously put me off android but I guess I'll forget about it now that it's fixed.

My 4a does something a bit similar. If I have three emails in my GMail inbox and open one from the message list, I get the new email notification sound but when I return to the list I now see two unread emails. First world problems in my case (I don't get a huge volume of emails) but it does suggest a little careless programming somewhere. But there was a dreadful bug in the last version of operating system on pixel 5. Mine only occasionally highlights an email in the notification pane, I assume it's due to some seeing in Gmail.
Android Auto has disappeared from my 6 Pro (it's not on the app drawer anymore and can't use the work around of opening it from the playstore), tried a factory reset but it's still not there and driving mode still doesn't work in landscape.

You don't need it installed, it's baked in now.Android Auto has disappeared from my 6 Pro (it's not on the app drawer anymore and can't use the work around of opening it from the playstore), tried a factory reset but it's still not there and driving mode still doesn't work in landscape.

“For those who use the on phone experience (Android Auto mobile app), they will be transitioned to Google Assistant driving mode,” Google said in a statement. “Starting with Android 12, Google Assistant driving mode will be the built-in mobile driving experience. We have no further details to share at this time.” Google says that the experience isn’t changing for anyone using Android Auto in compatible cars.

Baked in and annoying. Take a fully functioning android auto and then replace it with something worse that only works properly in portrait orientation https://9to5google.com/2021/11/04/pixel-6-android-...
