My AirPods have been delivered. A quick test has shown that, with my ears at least, that are secure enough to not fall out. The sound quality to me is on a par with the wired earphones, and the double-tap to activate Siri works really well, as does the music pausing when you take both AirPods out, and the switching to mono when you take one out. The charging case is small enough to fit in the small watch pocket on my jeans, so finally I have a use for that.
All in all, I'm very impressed.
The sounds is on par with the bundled headphones? All in all, I'm very impressed.

To be honest I have absolutely no interest in buying them. Just amazed at Apple's arrogance that they can sell headphones for £169 that have the same crappy sound of the freebies they chuck in every iPhone 7 box. Astonishing really.
But they're wireless lol. Remember the cost of anything that went from wired to wireless the first time. Ok so just had a proper play round with mine and I absolutely love them. The gift brilliant, build quality is excellent, the charging box is very smart and much smaller than I expected. The sound is great and perfect for what I will se them for: each, light travel, occasional tube commute, going for a run in the evenings. I personally highly recommend them.

Yes, you'd have to have pretty poor hearing to think they are actually any good.Especially when far better ones are available at a cheaper price, such as the latest Bose ones which sound superb.

As with all Apple products they aren't really for people that can just about afford them, they're for people who wouldn't bat an eyelid at spending that much on something. They'll get a great user experience and something that 'just works'. Sure there may be better things out there for less money but they don't care. They know these exist, they know they'll work well and are completely compatible with their iOS devices.
No they aren't going to win any awards for sound quality or value for money, but it seems like they provide that seamless experience we expect from an Apple product.

The in ear pods are rubbish. They only suit certain ear shapes, block out no noise and sound just as crap as the free ones supplied in the box. I have been using a set of Bose Quietcomfort20's for the past two years and they are only just passable in cancellation mode and the amount of noise they block is very varied. Tried the new Quietcontrol30s and the neckband is annoying and the noise cancellation, whilst better than the QC20s makes the music feel even lighter. I have purchased a pair of Etymotic ER4SR and will use the adaptor until they have a lightening cable available. Its like I have rediscovered my ears the sound is awesome compared to anything else I have tried and convinces me that noise isolation is the way to go.

Have to agree; the ones in the box with the phone sound dire and fall out (at least for me). I spent years using Shures (lost the last set I liked when travelling with a near-death hangover) and then Etymotics (killed on a plane when half asleep - did a thorough job, mind) and my GP told me off for using in-ear headphones.I have had a set of B&W P3s for the last 4 years; that they have lasted 4 years makes me happy! The isolation isn't as good as in-ear ones but the sound is great and new ear-foams and leads can be bought when I (inevitably) damage them.
When the B&Ws need replacement I'm not sure what I'll do. Maybe some Bluetooth B&Ws...but it's another thing to remember to (and probably forget to) charge!

The only problem I have with over ears units is out and about they make you look like this When the B&Ws need replacement I'm not sure what I'll do. Maybe some Bluetooth B&Ws...but it's another thing to remember to (and probably forget to) charge!

I know. I look like a tit anyway so that's fine. Ish.My main issue is that they're a pain when I go to meetings or the pub as whilst they fold, they're many, many times bigger than in-ear units at these times...and suit pockets are far too small for them.
I have wired B&W P5s and, tbh, don't give a hoot about size and looks because good quality sound trumps the lot.
If I had a '7 I reckon I'd just adapt that for wired.
Or.....
Is there a wireless solution to feed a portable amp to drive wired cans?
I occasionally pair up with a Fiio amp which gives good results from yer average digital file...

Has anyone got any comments on the normal size iPhone vs the plus? Is a plus easy to live with?
I have a normal size 6 which always feels a too small for me when doing emails etc. I had a 5 inch android phone for a while and really liked that screen size. So if I get a 7 plus will it feel absolutely huge to me? They look so big and unwieldy but the bigger screen would suit me I think???? I don't wear skinny jeans and also don't carry a man bag to lug it around in!
