I had them offer me a "great deal" in the week to have just a 1G broadband for £90. Toob are about to go live here with a 900Mb connection for £25 per month. Always been a fan of the virgin media broadband - have used it since 2001 (NTL back then, IIRC) but feels like they take the mick now and will be switching to Toob as soon as it's live - and will flip flop between the 2 of them as necessary to get the best deal.

Assume you have checked your contact marketing preferences on your account.

Yup although they did contact me to warn of an outage.

They contacted me also probably three or four times in the last two weeks regarding maintenance work but they still have not sorted it out in all this time, thousands of complaints on their forum regarding this.

Just been through the charade with them over the weekend.

I've got M250 broadband, line rental and anytime calls. Back in March that was £54 per month which went up to £61 in April with the price rise and then i received notification they wanted the full £72 from this month onwards.

Started a whatsapp chat and after 2 hours of back and forth we ended up back at £54 but with only weekend and evening calls. I'd had enough of the snotty attitude by the advisor so told them to just process the cancellation.

Next morning got a call from retentions and keeping everything i've already got for £39 per month. Could probably have gotten a bit more off but reasonably happy with the discount compared to what i was paying.

If they just charged everyone the same rate, take it or leave it, life would be so much simpler.

Yes, I don't get it. They must have pay thousands more to manage a team of people to deal with customers. I guess there are enough customers who don't bother to phone and cover the cost of running the team.

That's exactly what I think it is. Those of us who call to complain/cancel are effectively subsidised by those who just carry on paying whatever VM asks for. I'd have thought it's a fairly reasonable percentage that don't bother, just the same as insurance, mobile phone contracts etc.

So yesterday I got my 1st offer from them a week after giving 30 days notice.

M250 broadband
Tv with 290 channels, god knows what
Land line that we don’t use.

£44.00 for 18 months, that’s the same price I have been paying for the last 18 months.

Not sure if I should hold out for a better offer? It says I have one week to decide.

Do you need the TV? If not drop it. Drop the phone. I get 250mbps BB only for £15/m

good advice I'd say and the best rate I've seen.

I went through this charade with them in November and the sage advice I was given in advance was to use a call recording app, insist on no increase during the term (don't know if they still offer this) and to tell them during the call that in the absence of an email accurately reflecting the agreed rate and terms within 24hrs that the agreement is cancelled.

My deal is up mid-august, currently paying £25 for M100 (now M125), however looks now like even new customer deals are not as good as this and Id likely want a bit faster.

And there aren't many appealing deals from other suppliers either other than Shell broadband do 200mb for £30 a month.

Looks like I might not come out with a particularly good deal either way.

Just spent 30mins on the phone doing 'the dance' I currently pay £47.75 for 100m bb (that is useless to me) 170 odd tv channels (most of which i don't watch) and a phone I never use, this was to rise by £12 from April and the automated call offered me a £6 discount before I even spoke to anyone, after answering their questions on usage with me telling them they can reduce the bb and tv as I have no use they offer me a better package for £2 more than current cost rolleyes
A couple more silly offers and I get put through to the 'retentions team' a couple more offers that didn't cut I and they eventually listen and my new deal is 50m bb (more than enough for my usage) mixit tv (lowest package) and landline (never use no phone plugged in) for £30 for 18 months
Virgin being sneaky again and not giving me the 50mb download speed I am paying £30 a month for rolleyes

No I do mean 50mb smile
Was on 100 but got them to downgrade when I renewed as all that connects is my laptop and phone, I did a speed test yesterday and it appears they have increased my speed of their own choice

2nd email this week, my cancellation date is the 28th July. I wonder if they will come back with a better offer before then.

Shell Broadband might be up for sale, like Shell Energy.
