Was on 100 but got them to downgrade when I renewed as all that connects is my laptop and phone, I did a speed test yesterday and it appears they have increased my speed of their own choice
The bds, giving you better than you happily pay for.

My time has come!

My M500 broadband (only) at £36/ month is coming to an end and goes to £69/ month from August.

Has anyone recently renewed with Virgin? If you're on the same or similar package, what price did you fix?

Thanks.

Got my first phonecall from India today trying to upsell me to M250 for £30 a month.

I am happy with my M125 at £25 a month and I told them this multiple times but would not deviate.

Eventually he gave up.

Just spent an hour on the phone to the retention team and they won’t budge from £44.00 per month.
That email offer expires tomorrow and I have until the 28th before they collect their kit.

I don’t want to leave but want to hold out for the best and final offer.

Do you have a phone service and have you actually signed up to another provider and ported your number? Until Virgin get the porting request they'll know you're bluffing.

and they will likely be tracking your BB / tv / phone usage too to determine if you're serious about leaving.

if you can get Three 5g reception where you are get their 5g router on the rolling monthly contract (£24 / month) and use that whilst you're negotiating with VM during your 30 day cancellation period. you may find that can do all your phone calls free wifi calling, all the tv you want can be got by a firestick or a smart tv, and the download speeds from Three meet your BB needs in which case you can tell VM bye bye....

I have just left Virgin and found the whole procedure quite simple, my issue is the way they change contracts half way through and if you don't like it they just tell you to leave, the contract should be binding for both parties. In the end I got fed up going into battle every six months and decided to switch supplier, might be regretting it now though as the service is crap.

Just on the phone with Virgin now waiting whilst the guy has tech trouble getting my new contract together.

Megaphone - if you're reading this - do you have more than 18 months' history as a Virgin customer? I mentioned your price to the guy and he said perhaps that was the reason.

Current price for M500 - £36/ month (was a new customer)
End of deal price for M500 - £69/ month
Best price today for M500 - £45/ month

Due to my usage I was told I wouldn't notice a difference going down to M350. I told him I need to see live exchange rates and have a reliable connection when quoting and booking client trades etc and he said would be fine.

As a result, I've gone for M350 at £39/ month. Worth noting I didn't get a price increase during my first 18 months. Next time I'll see where 36 months' loyalty gets me - and perhaps then I'll have Toob available in my area.

....and I got cut off whilst on hold! Waited an hour for them to call me back but no joy. Interestingly, the lady I spoke to when I called back could see from notes left by the guy from whom I got cut off that he had had system issues, but he didn't note down the prices he quoted me. Bizarre. This time I got quoted the same for M500 but worse for M350!

No solution yet. Asked them for a call back due quote discrepancy.

Yes been with them for years, (with a few breaks when they wouldn't do a deal)

As has been mentioned many times in this thread, if you want a good price you need to cancel and switch to another provider, then call their bluff.

£39/m for BB is high, you'll get an APR price rise in April, all new contracts do.

I'll have this too.

500mb (1gb with Volt) ends in August. Currently paying £36.

I'm not paying any more than that, and i'm not fussed about 1gb internet. So it'll be the old "thanks but no thanks, i'm off", then wait for the call 2 days later.

What number did you go through to get this?
I was paying £21.50 a month for 250mbps but they've hiked it to £53.00 and won't go any lower than £34.00 with discounts

Just call the customer services number and cancel if they won't give you a better deal. As has been mentioned many times in this thread, if you want a good price you need to cancel and switch to another provider, then call their bluff.

Thanks Megaphone - I'm ready for a call from them - the second call having submitted a complaint on my behalf "this is the only way I can get someone to call you back" if not today (likely) then I'll call them tomorrow to cancel and see what I get.

Cheers!

That's often the issue unfortunately. VM know very well if they've got any 'proper' competition at your address, or whether it's just the usual suspects reselling poor BT connections.

A lot of the roads around here have been cabled by City Fibre and feedback is good. I'm hoping that they'll do my road before my next 'negotiation' with VM.

Currently paying £36 for 500 broadband (no tv etc).

Sounds like the chances of the same deal or cheaper are very slim so considering signing to BT despite my contract with Virgin not expiring until Nov. BT will buy me out effectively. Anyone done this?

Can get 500 for 24 months with BT for 32.99 and 6 months gamepass thrown in. Tempted to get it now just so its sorted and I dont miss the offer.

Same here.

Just been back on to them to chase my complaint but I'm still within their 72 hour window to respond.

I was offered M350 for £34/month including a stream box which I don't want, which they can't take out and neither can I chuck for it 18 months in case they ask for it back!

Was also offered to remain on M500 for £46/month.

The point of my complaint is that neither rep number 2 (Monday) nor number 3 (today) have been able to match the quotes made by rep number 1 from whom I got cut off and didn't write down his quotes to me but managed to write that he had system issues!
