Good news - hopefully that means that stock may start re-appearing on their site once they have cleared the current back-log.

I have a worry that LG are deliberately supplying the "normal" mobile operators first, possibly selling units at a higher price....

I have no basis for that worry - but if O2/Carphone etc can sell them for £400 a go, then they may well be paying LG more than google at £270 a go. I know Google aren't charging any profit, but is the full £130 going straight to o2!? I doubt it...

Why not? How much do you think it costs the manufacturers to produce such a device? Certainly not £270 or more that's for sure. I'm sceptical that o2 would pay more than what google would sell them for - but I could be wrong.

Finally making a post from my nexus 4 after the backorder fiasco!

It's a funky device and you can with it being vanilla android and coming from a HTC I can definitely see where HTC sense was added in... I think I will miss the windscreen wiper across the screen when the weather app says rain bit apart from that I like it!

A total bargain at Google play prices... Even at CPW price too.

Yeah I'd be interested to hear it.

I was going to get one, but ended up getting the Note 2 instead. My mate, who also owned a Galaxy Nexus like myself got one but didn't exactly give it a glowing report, saying that although it was very fast, the screen was "pale" and the battery life was "terrible".

I have a feeling I'd like it, but I'd be disappointed with the battery life after the Note 2 (easily 6 - 9 hours screen on time per charge), and the camera and lack of storage (I've got 70 Gb storage on the Note 2).

I love the Note, but it's too big for me for a number of reasons (mostly my dock on the bike would only just fit an S3 :/), I read somewhere that Samsung might be considering dropping Amoled for the time being, as the production process would be too expensive/impossible for 1080p at the time.
I hope they don't I'm much rather have a 200dpi amoled than any 300+dpi ips I've seen so far.

That would be a shame.

AMOLED screens recently have had some bad press for "over-saturated" colours and the like. Maybe that is true, but to my eyes, AMOLED screens are so much prettier and appealing to my eyes, regardless of the accuracy of them. My N2 may not be over 300 PPI but its plenty and it looks gorgeous. In particular, the blacks are very appealing.

indeed, I don't get this, the only thing you can say about that is that it's not realistic. Well, it's a multimedia device, just like HDR pictures, supermodels, movies, what's wrong with being "larger than life"? Or in this case, more vibrant?

If I want realism I'll look out of a window, if I want a gorgeous screen, I'll keep to Amoled. However, with the latest batch of screens (HTC One X in particular), they do get very pretty. However, when the SGS2 was launched, most equivalent screens looked a bit "washed" out in comparison (even the iPhone 4, one of the best IPS screens at the time).

yes

At the end of the day as you say, its a phone, a multimedia device. I don't need calibrated colours on it as it's totally unnecessary IMO. If its pleasing to my eyes, then its pleased me. I agree on the One X though, very good screen. I've also got an IPS monitor at home that is very vibrant, I think LCD is getting better. That said, I always felt my Nexus 7 screen looked quite washed out.

I went from an iPhone 4 to my SGS2 and I didn't feel it was in any way a downgrade, yes it was less sharp but it also was bigger, better contrast and blacks and more vibrant. Horses for courses.

OK guys, I've had my Nexus 4 for 9 days now so I've got a bit of experience with it..

Hardware - the hardware is great in terms of feel and build quality. The fit and finish is as good as my iPhone 4 or my One X, it really feels premium rather than budget like the price would suggest. The glass on the front is the smoothest and most oleophobic glass I have ever felt - they must put some special layer on it, because is really is ridiculously smooth and slick feeling. The 'plastic' round the edges doesn't feel like plastic because it's that special soft-touch plastic, again, the smoothest plastic I have ever felt. I thought the sparkles on the back would look tacky but it looks really quite subtle in reality.

In terms of screen quality, coming from a One X, I can't say I am disappointed and the One X has one of the best displays on the market. Colours are vivid, the contrast is good and viewing angles seem fine. I have a slight bit of light leak on the top of mine, but nothing enough to bother me in general use.

Software - as we all know, Nexus devices come with stock Android so you get the 'pure' Google experience. It is reassuring being in the knowledge that the Nexus 4 will get any updates for the foreseeable future nearly instantly OTA from Google, something which frustrated me with my One X and my SGS2. Jellybean finally brings the smoothness and polish that Android so desperately needed - I really cannot fault the Nexus 4's performance (I also use an iPad 3 so I have a reasonably smooth benchmark to compare against). In terms of performance, this phone flies, whether it be downloading and installing apps, opening apps or browsing the internet; I haven't had a single hick-up anywhere. As I mentioned earlier, the screen has some sort of extra-smooth layer on it which adds to the super-smooth experience.

Battery - this is my main area of disappointment on the Nexus 4 unfortunately. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised, coming from a One X which has always been a bit notorious for poor battery life. Well, for me, the Nexus 4 battery has been even worse and I'm really not sure why. I usually find the battery struggling after just a couple of hours screen on time with a mix of browsing and texting. Not a great example, but right now I am on 86% battery life with a screen on time of just 17 minutes, last charged 6 hours ago. Hopefully updates will see some improvements as I really expected it to have a better battery life than my One X.

Camera - I didn't come into this phone with very high expectations based on reviews and the fact that my old One X is a top performer in the camera department so I knew I was going to be disappointed and well, I am. Compared to my One X, the camera is pretty slow to focus, blurs fairly easily and produces average looking photo's. That being said, as a camera phone, it does 'just fine'. The camera and gallery software is refreshing and slick, the new camera interface feels natural and convenient from the get-go.

Overall, I have to say I am happy with the Nexus 4. I love the design and feel of the hardware, and Jellybean is a pleasure to use. I am a fairly heavy user and a happy snapper, so I think the battery life and camera quality will be a permanent source of frustration for me personally. If you've got an S3, One X or iPhone 5, I have to say it isn't worth the switch (My One X was stolen), however as an upgrade from a previous generation phone, you can't go too far wrong! In my case, I won a 32" LG smart TV from o2 when I bought the Nexus, which somewhat makes up for losing my HTC.

Let me know if there are any more details you would like to know!
