Either one is too high, or one is too low, or one is too far bak, or one is too far forward.
Please make the screens/bezels line up...or don't!
Haha fair point. iMac and PC monitors never play that well together as the iMac has no vertical movement. I think they will both end up wall mounted so it will be easier then. Please make the screens/bezels line up...or don't!

Really like the built in cupboards.
Yeah they turned out brilliantly. All the credit to a local firm who built and installed them. There's a matching unit on the adjoining wall and it really has transformed my study/workspace which was a bit of a mess before. They just need the final coat of paint now.droopsnoot said:

What are peoples thoughts on how to align your monitors to your seating position?
Previous desk I had 1 monitor straight infront of me one of the left (left handed) on an angle, with the new desk, I've done it so the middle of the 2 screens is directly infront of me.
I've not been working long today but it's already feeling awkward. Think I'd rather have 1 directly infront the other on the side.
Surely the answer is "whatever feels best to you"? Previous desk I had 1 monitor straight infront of me one of the left (left handed) on an angle, with the new desk, I've done it so the middle of the 2 screens is directly infront of me.

I have put them both on an angel toward each other and it's a lot better already. when I move my head to 1 of them, the screen is equidistant from my eyes, rather than sloped away.
I've got one 34" directly in front of me and the other angled towards me. It does come over the desk a bit due to it being that wide.
As I said before, I feel like I can't go back, but I think a 34" + 27" setup was the sweet spot for me. If you use a lot of full screen applications, I can imagine a 3x27" or the like being more useful though.

That is the point, regardless of 2 or 3. the edge monitors need to be angled. if you had 3 flat monitors, you'd struggle too. Each of mine are 53cm, that's over a meter left to right. As I said before, I feel like I can't go back, but I think a 34" + 27" setup was the sweet spot for me. But I think a few holes in the backboard wouldn’t be the worst idea.
In a similar arrangement I've gone with a few holes in the bottom panel towards the front (so invisible) and in the backboard towards the top - holes just in the back didn't help anything like as much as the machine didn't pull air in well from the back of the cupboard, it just tried to suck it around the door. The two main killers of hardware are heat and power. Hot spots are far worse for the life of hardware (i.e. no ventilation) than running in a hot environment with adequate ventilation.
I definitely want to go more towards your approach though to minimalism.
Thought this might be the best thread to post this in.
Does anyone know where or what to look for to mount a laptop behind a screen thats on a vesa mount?
Is there such a thing, all I can find are stands to display me the laptop but I want to tuck it behind the screen so it's off the desk?

Not really helpful, but I imagine it'd be hard to make as Vesa mounts are made to mount the screen to a wall.Does anyone know where or what to look for to mount a laptop behind a screen thats on a vesa mount?

So you can have balance issues, if the VESA mount is available at all if the monitor stand is still attached.
So hard to make a standard.
Have a look at NEWSTAR, good quality mounts that get sold under different brand names (NEWstar, Puremounts,...).
They make this:

Which seems to be exactly what you're asking. But from what I see I don't know a lot of monitors that would fit to.

That plus this https://www.amazon.co.uk/HumanCentric-Mounting-Com... in theory tucks it behind a screen but it's bulky and awkward.Would a docking station and a hidden laptop not achieve the same thing?https://en.newstar.eu/laptop/laptop-holders/notebo...

And then tuck the laptop anywhere you want? under the desk, in a drawer, on a shelf etc. Within limits of the USB-C cable.
Vey convenient if you have multiple laptops/users in the house and want to swap around.
Thanks very much for the suggestions all.
I think £150 for a dock might be a little overkill and I would then have to keep the laptop in the desk, this is my personal laptop that goes back and forth to my garden office so it might be a pain.
Zespak and then quartz your links recommended me this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076N6B6GQ/ref=dp_prsu...
Looks like it might do it, but question whether it’s sturdy enough to support the screen with the laptop slipped between it and the main mount.

Looks very nice.
What happens when you watch something full screen? Does it add black bars at the sides to achieve the aspect ratio?
Yes, when watching 16:9 content (e.g. YouTube fullscreen), you get horrendous thick bars either side. However, some 4K Netflix content (mainly their own shows) fit the screen fully with no obvious signs of scaling so I guess they're shot in a 21:9 or 32:9 format. That looks amazing. What happens when you watch something full screen? Does it add black bars at the sides to achieve the aspect ratio?
The screen width took a bit of getting used to. I originally set it up using 2 outputs from my PC so it operated as 2 screens without a bezel but then stumbled upon WindowGrid, which allows you to split the screen into zones and using the right mouse button to snap into zones.
I was a bit wary about splashing out so much for a monitor, but its probably the best PC "thing" I've bought in years.
