3080ti FE were in stock at scan this morning for MRSP
That would have been useful information this morning ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Not too sure how long 3060Ti/3070/3080 FE cards are staying available for now, but back at the start of the Summer they would be gone within a couple of mins of the drop happening. I'd guess that 3080Ti and 3090 FE cards might stay available longer due to the massive price (£1049 and £1399) which only absolutely minted/dedicated gamers are going to be willing and able to buy. I think the 3080Ti cards are all LHR so that reduces their mining appeal too. There would be a demand for 3090s from miners.

I got one over a month ago following a post on here, as I'd turned off all my alerts months ago after I decided an RRP 3070 would do for now.
I didn't even go to the site for a couple of hours and they were still available.
Yeah, I would absolutely buy a 3080 FE if I could get one (have a 3070 FE currently) but no way would I pay the extra for the 3080Ti FE. The price is just too high for gaming.I didn't even go to the site for a couple of hours and they were still available.
Understandably, Scan are limiting FE purchases to one per customer (which is fair) so looks like I will be sticking with the 3070FE for the forseeable ... To be fair, the 3070 is a great card and I'm very happy to have been able to get it - it's just that I now have a G9 monitor and a 3080 would be needed to game to anything like the potential that the monitor offers.
What is the RRP for say a 3080ti? There are plenty of those on overclockers for £1300 upwards. If the RRP is £1000 or something then its hardly worth waiting until its pretty much out of date to bag one to save a relatively small amount.
I keep toying with buying a 3080ti but keep expecting it to come down a bit but the price has seemed pretty static for ages now, I could probably get £300-£400 for my 1080ti if I upgrade as well.
So instead of saying when will the prices come down, what are the chances of not paying less than £1400 in the next 2 months for a 3080ti.

I think 1300 - 1400 ish is rrp for many third party 3080tis.
That's why you can buy plenty right now. They're mediocre value compared to the much rarer stuff.
A couple of people have said they're not worth it but a 3080 is only slightly less and is slower but a 3090 is about £2000 and not that much better from what I can see. The 3080ti looks the pick of the bunch to me.That's why you can buy plenty right now. They're mediocre value compared to the much rarer stuff.
I don't even know what a founder edition is to be honest, I did think it was a card produced by the actual chip manufacturer and not someone like Pallitt or Zotac. I also remember reading a while ago about FE cards being noisy and hot compared to other makes because they all had a single fan, it was the one to stay away from from what I recall.

Nope, they all have two fans, either both bottom blowing up (3060 ti, 3070) or split one top one bottom like the 3070ti 3080 3080ti and 3090.The ones here at the top out of stock are the founders edition cards - https://shop.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/store/?page=...
RTX 3080 comparison, just 2 degree hotter than an MSI Gaming X Trio and better than the Zotac Trinity in gaming. Lowest power consumption and not the loudest either.

Maybe in the past, but not this time around, the founders edition cards are beautifully made and really quiet. Throw in the fact that they are the cheapest ones available too and it's hard to see why if you can get hold of one why you'd buy anything else. Big if there obviously.Stevil said:

Yes to reply to the quote above I meant the earlier series where the FE cards were the worst of the lot.

No you're right, but then since the 3090 FE is £1399 and is increasingly available I don't know why you'd go for the Zotac 3080ti instead. I had a Zotac 3090 early on and it sounded like a jumbo jet taking off, luckily bagged a 3090 FE just before Christmas and offloaded the Zotac for what I paid initially and couldn't be happier with it.So looking at the Nvidia site linked to a 3080ti founders card is £1040 RRP but you can get a Zotac one for £1329 on Amazon, its hardly a vast difference in price in the grand scheme of things.
I cant find a 3090 anywhere though under £1800 and I've been looking for weeks. There is also a gigabyte card on amazon for £1299
Scratch the above, I've dillied and dallied for far too long now so have just purchased this, it should be here tomorrow.

My 1080ti is pallitt and its been rock solid at max overclocking since I've had it.

That’s unfortunate timing. The 3090FE was in stock for hours on Friday @ £1399. Scratch the above, I've dillied and dallied for far too long now so have just purchased this, it should be here tomorrow.

Had mine since last year and generally it’s whisper quiet.

Where though, who stocks the FE cards, is it only Nvidia? Cant say I've ever looked on their site before someone posted the link earlier. you would think you get PC components from PC specialists like SCAN or Overclockers. I had to drive all the way to stoke to secure my 1080 card a couple of years ago.
Scan are the only Nvidia FE supplier in the U.K. Drops are usually once every couple of weeks but the more expensive cards tend to hang around for a bit now. scottyp123 said:

The Founders Edition cards are made by NVidia themselves. They are sold to the public through a single distributor per country, in the UK's case this is Scan. There are restrictions in that there is one FE card per customer - ever - and they do extra checks aimed at stopping scalpers which have lead to people's purchases being rejected. It used to be that the FE cards were a little bit more expensive than the rest and made in only a limited run. However, with the craziness of this generation it appears that NVidia have decided to keep making them in order to provide a source of cards priced at RRP. The FE card variants are 3060Ti, 3070, 3070Ti, 3080Ti and 3090 - there is no 3060FE. The actual quality of the cards is really good - very good aesthetics, very solid construction, good cooler design .. IMO they are generally a better package than the third party cards except for those who want to do extreme overclocking.
However, there's no way that NVidia can make enough of them to meet demand so you get batches turning up 'at random' about once per month per card. Sometimes you get a drop of 2 or 3 different FE cards on the same day.
Demand for 3080 and lower is super-high and the cards tend to go in minutes. The more expensive 3080Ti and 3090 variants will stick around for sale a bit longer but still will be gone within an hour or two.
The only way you are going to get one is to either write something to monitor Nvidia's site directly (NVidea will put a link up which sends you to Scan when the cards are in stock) or find an alert service that tells you. Partalert is the best one I have found - it's how I got my 3070FE. They have twitter and telegram but telegram tends to be a couple of minutes quicker which makes all the difference. They also have a discord but got so overloaded that they stopped new members a while back. Not sure if that is still in effect.
