Its in the recovery mode of your tablet* - google it.

  • I'm interested to see if its there on yours, I've not checked the 7 but my N4 seems to have a broken recovery now...

I'm surprised it's that much better. I popped into an Apple store yesterday fully expecting the same effect with the ipad air - I wasn't blown away so keeping my 3 gen ipad and 'saved' a few quid. Ditto with MBP - my 2011 model is fine for my (limited) requirements.
Quite pleased with myself and so both 'savings' will go towards a watch. biggrin
Well, it's mainly the screen tbh. But to hold, it feels a lot less "cheap". The soft touch is great and where the 2012 felt a bit "hollow" in some places, the 2013 feels a lot more solid and compact.

Just checked my N4 recovery and it is still there. on latest 4.4 KRT16S

Turn Device off
HOLD VOL down, then press and Hold Power button
Scroll to recovery using volume buttons
Press power button to enter
You will get an Android with "No Connection" written underneath it
Press power then fractionally after VOL up at the same time then let go

You should now have Options to
Reboot System Now
apply update from ADP
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

The above should work on N7 too.

Anyone tried ART on their N7 yet?

(I'm assuming ART is available on the N7 with 4.4 like my N4).

I'll have a look tonight, but apparently it isn't there.

Dam thought I had a battery problem as wasn't charging but realised that the cable was in but not charging. Now have to put it in very precise position to charge it! Screwed up the connector inside not the cable! Repairable?? Could get a docking station but have case permanent connected dont want to keep on undoing it to charge! Microusb socket very easy to damage!

Anyone played with the docking station? I presume most can not use with case?

Are you still using the original poo cable that came with the 2012 model? I had to replace that as charging took ages.

My device has updated to KK and certainly feels quicker but sometimes stutters in a very minor manner.

Mine says no commands on recovery mode, but the vol up + power key combo works, so thanks for that smile

ART is on the 2013 N7 model but not the 2012 N7
I've just installed an (unofficial) CM11 (4.4) ROM from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2... - you can pick the ADT just like on the N4.

And I've just slapped on a custom kernel (M Kernel) allowing the clock to be cranked up to 1.7Ghz. Just to be sure.

smile

I had the stock ICS AOSP browser side loaded on my N7, no longer works with KK - surprise, surprise.
Pity because whilst I didn't use it much on the 7 I was hoping it'd transfer across to the N5 I hope to buy next month. I always found it so much quicker than other browsers for one handed operation with the quick controls activated.

Well .. i made an error last night!

I have an Original 3G N7, which is rooted and has an unlocked bootloader.
Overnight it downloaded the 4.4 update.

I noticed the update was downloaded when i arrived offshore (No Internet signal at all) and told it to go ahead with the update, it booted into the TeamWin Recovery and installed the update. As i clicked reboot it asked if i wanted to fix the root permissions. I Clicked yes and it has rebooted and has hung on the 4 circles.....

Now i have no access to internet to download the large files i need to recover ...

I've just looked at XDA and have decided to go back to full stock and start from scratch ... i don;t see any other options, unless you guys have any idea!?

Alas my N7 couldn't handle 1.7GHz, but at 1.6 and ART enabled got an Antutu score of 17000 equalling the N4. CPU score is much higher but the N4 still hammers the N7 for graphics and RAM performance. Will try using it more to see how stable it is.

How do I wipe the cache?
Scroll down from the right > settings > storage > tap cached data > tap empty cache.

Need some help with a mates V1 N7. Its all stock, was running fine and now it wont turn on for some reason. Tried charging it for an hour and doing the plug unplug method, also tried pretty much every button combination I can think of but still nothing. Any ideas? My laptop seems to recognise it as a new device but then fails to install the drivers. Screen remains blank, no signs of life.

Have you tried the very long power button press - up to 30 seconds?

Yup, held it down for 30 seconds, then tried 1 min, even held it down for 2 mins just to see if anything would happen. Nothing did

Did the tablet become totally flat?
Pop the back and check the battery connection?
