Result in my book, however, they would not have got a penny more out of me if it got that far, freebies or not.

Post up some pics!

I had a similar dispute with Vodafone years ago that went to the top as well. The best I got was they let me cancel my contract 3 months early. You landed on your feet there.

I look forward to hearing about it. smile

Also how restoring from a back up goes - my 6 to my 7 didn't work terribly well.
I am really pleased with the X; I've only spent an hour with it but the face unlock works really well and the screen (size and clarity) is really impressive. It's a ridiculous amount of money for a phone, but it's something I use all the time and as a bit of a tech geek why not? I will sell my unlocked iPhone 7 (32GB/Space grey) which should ease the pain....
I'm take a lot of pictures so keen to see test the camera out.

In terms of set up, I always set up as a new phone rather than a back up - it's a bit of a pain but I think a clean install is better.

I got mine this morning after unexpectedly receiving a text yesterday to confirm delivery today. I was last informed 10th November was best case scenario.

So I worked from home eagerly awaiting the door bell!

At first I was a tad underwhelmed. It’s always the way, expectations of a new phone only to realise it’s badically the same once you’ve restored it to your latest back up.

Coming from a 6S Plus the smaller frame is great. I was considering downsizing to the normal 7 before the X was revealed. I’ve got big hands but still struggled using 1 hand. Much easier with the X.

Some apps are still downloading!

After using it for a good while it’s clear to see its much faster etc.

Face ID is superb.

Feels very premium.

Nothing to not like but I doubt it’s actually worth the extra on top of an 8/8+, but hey, it’s available, has some cool extra features and looks nice. I’m pleased with the purchase.

I’ve got an email from Mont Blanc to say they should have their cases available next month so I’ve ordered a cheap Carbon Fibre look one from eBay for now. Also ordered a wireless charging mat.

I am disappointed with the X, the screen isnt big enough.

I have a 7 plus just now and liked the idea of a bigger screen in the smaller body, but its not the case, the screen on the plus feels much bigger as it is wider, I would also say the plus looks sharper too. Screen size wise the X is an upgrade to the 6/7/8, with a little bit extra top and bottom but not the plus models, the narrowness makes it feel restricted and the text much smaller.

Face ID works great, really quick and does the job better than I was expecting. The general speed is great, a noticeable step up when opening apps and general functions.

Very, very pleased with the X.

Build quality and feel is sublime. The screen is amazing. The form factor is perfect - a really big screen without the bulk of a bigger phone.

Face ID works really well. The camera seems excellent. Everything is very fast and the new migration from old to new iPhone is very slick indeed.

I had a 5 minute play with someone's at work yesterday.

Screen seemed very sharp, it verily whizzed through iOS, and the form factor is good if you don't want a plus-sized handset.

However, I'm ordering a 8+ as my own free upgrade. I'll wait it out until the next gen pops up with integrated TouchID and no notch hopefully.

Must admit I find myself puzzled by people praising the form factor, lack of bulk, etc. Surely no one is actually going to use this without a case are they?

I’ve never used a case on an iPhone. Just make sure it doesn’t go in the same pocket as your keys!

Had a play with one in the Apple store today.

Just like my 6plus. But a lot nicer and faster.

Still don't see the need to upgrade though.

Same goes for every other iPhone though?

I’m really pleased that I have a smaller phone but still with a large screen. I know some are moaning it’s too slim etc but I love it.

People saying "it's a lot faster" than my 6S/7, isn't that mainly because your the older device just got a bit cluttered over time? I know the CPU is a lot faster; but find it hard to believe that there's a noticeble day to day difference between the two blank devices...

Possibly, since I put ios11 on my 6s+ it would drain its battery in a few hours of use and struggle with certain tasks.

Same with my 6. I haven’t looked at either yet but thinking I prefer an 8 because it will fit easier into my shirt pockets.

It is.
My phone has 128GB of memory and I have used 33GB.

Speed is very noticeable.

Tbh it's not how much you have left that slows a phone down.
Fwiw, checked a couple of vids and they couldn't find it:

Maybe in time, if all the optimisations are done, the 8 will come to it's own though.

But people shouting "it's faster than my current iPhone #, just try and wipe your iphone and start over (I know, big thing to ask). Makes more difference than you'd think.

One of the things some of my users at work have said to me is that they prefer the iPhone over Android phones because they don't slow down over time. What you are saying here suggests that they are wrong... interesting. I am an Android user, so I can perhaps say they possibly do slow down slightly but not to the extent iPhone users make out, but it seems they may be kidding themselves. Having said that I can't see any of the current generation of phones feeling in any way slow for quite a long time yet.

I've had iPhones and android phones in various guises.
My best guess here is that iOS manages it's ram and background apps better, but there's still a lot of other factors.
BTW, I'm not just saying that. Take a 3 year old iPad/iPhone and factory reset it. Whatever it is, the difference is not just noticeable but sometimes day and night.

The only thing I’ve ever noticed slow down iPhones are iOS software updates. Not the little ones, from 10 to 11 for example has slowed down the older devices.

I always thought it was planned obsolescence from Apple.

Could be, my 4S felt nearly unuseable after 2 years tbh. A reset solved that, for a couple of months.

Anyway, they do slow down. Doesn't really matter what does it. If it's planned obsolence, that's just complete malpractice and shows very little respect for the consumers tbh.
