If he's then doing a calculation on the result the calculation wouldn't take the rounded up value just because it looks rounded on the screen.
Actually, using the decimal decrease button is nothing like ROUNDUP.

It can appear to be similar to ROUND.

As Vee says, the underlying value remains unchanged and the true decimal value will be used in future calculations etc.

Take the result of 24.4444.

With the cell formatting option set to 1 decimal, it will display 24.4

The result of ROUND(cell,1) will be 24.4

The result of ROUNDUP(cell,1) will be 24.5

BTW - those icons are not round up and round down either, they are increase / decrease decimal formatting.
