Well I took the plunge this morning and got one from 3 in Chippenham.
So far it looks really good and the only downside is that 3 haven't got the free Windown Live Messenger App written for it just yet.
It's Android, so there are plenty of apps already out there So far it looks really good and the only downside is that 3 haven't got the free Windown Live Messenger App written for it just yet.
Ok initial thoughts are that it is a wonderful phone, however!!!!!!!
I brought it home at 2pm today and it is now just shy of 8pm.
In that time, i've had a little play with syncing to double twist, swapping contacts over, setting up gmail, received 1 email and downloading BBC News and Sky News.
It has used over 5mb of data.
1.33 mb was used whilst I watched Dr Who and didn't touch it. I have exited all the apps correctly, but flipping heck it is going to go through 1gb of data every 30 days at this rate and that is without using it.
Edited to add it has used another 0.8 mb in the last 5 minutes.
To me something isn't right. I have uninstalled BBC New and Sky News to see if those were the culprits.
From memory my data usage when I had an iphone wasn't particularly huge.

Battery appears to be fine at the moment, but will need charging again on Sunday. I have solved the data problem. It was the sky news app. Having now read the comments in the android market for that app, I won't touch it again. Once chap's review says he used 100mb of data in one day with it refreshing every hour. Not sure which one. I'll probably just put the sky one back on and see what happens.
My next problem is with the gmail app, I just have an inbox and there is no option to send anyone an email, although when I have an email in, I can reply etc.

I can't answer all your question but with Itunes I am using Doubletwist, which has worked really well.
With refernce to Battery life, it has gone for 24 hours and is just having it's first re-charge, but what is good is how quickly it re-charges.
Update..... Had to recharge the battery by 11.00 this morning, not great when I switched it off last night, so didn't even get 12 hours.

How do I keep track of how much data mb i'm using on the x10 mini?
I can do on the 3 network, using my3. Not sure if other networks have a similar feature. Alternatively there are apps you can download from Android Market which tell you data usage. Mine has really calmed down now after I removed the sky news app.M4FFU said:
Thanks. Just downloaded one from the marketplace. Will keep an eye on usage as i've got a 500mb quota. Really like the phone though. Time will tell if I will regret not getting the htc desire.
I was considering a desire, but the shop didn't have any in stock. Only thing I don't like at the moment is that 3 still don't have free Windows Live Messenger. Other than that I think it's a great phone.I've now done 5 charge ups and the battery life is much better than it was. I can certainly go 24 hours, but I do switch it off overnight.

Will be interesting to see how my battery starts to behave. Still on it's first charge. Is there a way to turn the 3g off at all?
No, although there is an option under settings, mobile network settings. You can only disable access to the 3g network. That's no issue for me as my network is 3g only. Why do you want to switch it off?Edited by M4FFU on Thursday 17th June 20:08

The Desire is a very different phone, much more powerful but a lot bigger. I'd choose one over an X10 any day but the X10 mini is a lovely little thing worth serious consideration, especially if size and looks are an important factor. Now they just need to get Froyo on it and it'll be perfect...

Agree. I just like small phones. Sure, the Desire can and will do much more than my X10 Mini, but I don't need a powerful phone. I want something small and subtle that I can use basic 'net functions as well as call and text with. The size takes some getting used to, and I've been using a very old Sony W800i for the last few years so Android and smart phones in general are a little new, but I'm really liking it at the moment. Does everything I'd need a phone to do.
I'm comparing it to my iphone 3g and for me, I prefer it. I would have liked a full size X10 but couldn't justify the price tag. I was prepared to have a Desire but they were out of stock. Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
