Does Dell , Sony etc offer what Mac do ?

NO !! That is the one reason MAC are good. Walk in with a appointment and they do all they can to fix things. NO OTHER company offer this service.

I would expect a new book and they to do the HD file transfer for you. BE NICE , shouting does not work. The staff are cool and want to help
I like Apple also but in the interests of fairness Dell used to send out replacement parts if you were happy to fit them yourself, not sure if they still do as I only buy apple these days.
yes
Dell's service has been incredible, pay a little more and the next business day there is a technician at your desk, with repair parts if needed, trying everything they can to get it fixed, and succeeding almost every time due to having a van full of parts.

Combine that with 3years of warranty and you can really talk about care-free ownership.

Straight back down to an Apple store and get a brand new machine then.
[troll]Another quality apple product ... shame about all the info on your HD[/troll]
Well, if it was a dead Toshiba, then you could take it back to a Toshiba shop for a straight replacement, oh no, you can't because there are no Toshiba shops. Or Leveno shops, or HP shops. Staples might send away for repair for you....You could send it back to Dabs.com and wait a few weeks for a replacement....

wink
Why would I need to go to a shop to get my HP laptop fixed? I ring HP up and they send an engineer to fix or replace it for me within 4 hours wink

Well it is suddenly alive again. She claimed that she had tried the leave it on charge thing but I don't think she did.

It's working again but lets see for how long?

I'd say at least until the battery runs out again.....

I would back everything up right now, just to be on the safe side.

Or get one of these. Mind you, they are so handy, it's prolly worth getting one anyway.
