What's the best AAA keychain light these days? Fenix LD02?
Depends what 'best' means to you. As there are probably 1000's of different models available.

Personally never understood the fascination with Fenix models. They seem to be the BMW M3 or Porsche 911 of the flashlight world. I.e .the brand people buy just because other people have.

Personally the Astrolux A01 is a very good AAA light and has 2 big things over pretty much any Fenix. Neutral white emitter with high CRI and a moonlight mode.

And if I'm honest, I rather like the Maglite Solitaire LED. Very versatile beam and slim.

That looks like it packs a punch & is amazing VFM. The profile puts me off as an EDC key ring torch.

The Solitaire is barely longer / thicker than the AAA battery that powers it. The LED beam, whilst on 37 lm has a good hot spot & some breadth of focus.

I am an out & out Maglite fan though.

10 minute walk there, 3 hour walk back.
Oh I missed the bit about the pub sorry, no, never go as I don't have any friends. I have lots of glow sticks though... inversely proportional I guess.

Humm, I have an issue with the Convoy I just got. Tried it out and was majorly impressed with how powerful it is for so little money but when I started tapping the switch to set the mode I want it seems to have got stuck on low?

Any ideas?
I can't help because mine still hasn't arrived from BG!

If you get really stuck there's always the option of dropping Simon at Convoy a message:

That's his store on Ali Express.

Damm, got one of those Astrolux jobs on the way. How did that happen ?

Also to myself looking forward to getting,in the same order, a transparent padlock and lock pick set that popped up on a popup!

Oh I dunno, I think that's a compliment. The BMW M3 and Porsche 911 are quality cars offering competitive performance at the price point. You know what you're getting and it's a solid, if slightly 'unimaginative' choice. The supposed lack of imagination wouldn't insult me at all, I like buying things that are known to work. smile

Exactly smile

Nothing wrong with an M3 or 911, just unimaginative and somewhat obvious, Fenix is the same (I even own one).

The Fenix Owners Club is making it's presence known in this thread then smile

I agree with 300bhp/tonne though - they're solid lights, nothing special but people seem prepared to pay a premium over brands of equal quality because it's a name they've heard of (and in fairness they're more readily available in the UK from reputable sellers than other more obscure brands.) It's not a criticism of Fenix or Fenix owners, so no need to get defensive of your Fenix lights folks.

It was actually the sweeping generalisations about Porsche and BMW owners I found tedious.

Anyway, as you were...

It might have been a sweeping generalisation, but maybe not an inaccurate one.

While some people will buy a 911 for other reasons, there are many that buy them because 'they are the car to buy' and importantly, the car to been seen in and let people know you have bought it.

The same sort of person would buy a Golf GTI, just because it's a Golf GTI.

For the wider market, vanity can and does play a large part in car purchases.

Fenix seems to be one of those brands too, over on CPF you see it a lot. People joining saying they want to buy a Fenix, only because they are of the believe they are the ultimate. They don't want to listen to people saying about other makes, all they want is people to say yes, do it.

Now I'm not saying to anyone here don't buy a Fenix. They do actually make some very good torches. My advice is simply, do have a look around, because there are a lot of other brands too.
