A video by google showcasing the Pixel folding phone has been up for the past two weeks but it's barely had 1000 views, if it comes out under $1000 then it may be a decent proposition.

This video is unlisted, so it's understandable that not many people have found it...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00a9yBiyqQM

7A should get announce at Google IO later today. Better screen, better camera sensor, probably a bit more cost than is usal for an A but that's all rumour for now.
Still on a 5, was looking at a 7 and now waiting for an 8 although was tempted by the standard size S23 ... apart from the price!
Ah, thanks - had assumed if the 8 models were to be announced today then there'd be no more 7 models.Still on a 5, was looking at a 7 and now waiting for an 8 although was tempted by the standard size S23 ... apart from the price!

I'd hold off on a 7 pro, the 8 will be announced later this month I believe.
Also, I've sent my 7 pro back to Google this week after problems with the fingerprint reader. I can register as many fingerprints as I want successfully but only the first one will unlock the phone. The rest aren't recognised which is useless.
I have only ever registered one fingerprint and never had a problem. Can you not just use the same finger/thumb?????Also, I've sent my 7 pro back to Google this week after problems with the fingerprint reader. I'm left handed purely for writing but everything else I use either hand and having a single fingerprint registered simply doesn't work for me. My 6 pro is absolutely fine every time and it's a good job I didn't send it back for the trade in.
Tried to watch the Keynote but it was so boring and strung out.
Why do Google at the launch for any phone always have just the base model available to pre-order?
Was prepared to pay up to a thousand in total for the Fold as the trade in value for the 6 pro was pretty decent (£380) but it's still too expensive tbh.

I saw a bit about the Pixel Fold on the Unbox Therapy YouTube, he had a live handset. Comparing it to my Samsung Fold 4, the Pixel is shorter and wider when closed, and it opens out to landscape proportion. At a guess if the inner screen of the Samsung is 5:6 aspect ratio, the Pixel is 6:5. The inner screen has a black border on the Pixel with the camera set in it, the Samsung has the under screen camera and smaller borders. On the Unbox Therapy handset you could see the crease in the screen on the Pixel, same as the Samsung.
When it's opened at an angle to 'laptop mode', each half of the screen looks close to 16:9 video proportion, on the Samsung with a 16:9 video in the top half you get big a letterboxed black section either side of the video. The two halves of the closed Pixel looked flat with no gap, on the Samsung there's a slight air gap on the hinge side.

I think the 7A is a good deal, the fold though is a serious amount of money. No way I'd be prepared to give it a go at nearly £2k.
I don't think the Tablet is very appealing, bezels are huge and it's just not very attractive.
I thought the rest of the presentation around the integration of AI was interesting, very exciting.

The Fold does seem an awful lot of money, and none of the ganeeous trade in deals that Samsung offer for theirs, I have been very impressed with my Galaxy Fold 4, and the idea of a Fold, and I love pixels, so have been been excited to see this.
At the moment, the Fold 4 isn't even in the trade in section, I'd rather have more money towards it, instead of the included pixel watch. I do much prefer the form factor on this one though, wider, and folds flat, Im not a fan of the long and narrow form factor of the Galaxy.

I always got the impression buying a phone outright and going sim-only is rarely cheaper than getting a contract, or am I missing something?
There's no rule on this as it depends on the deals. One thing at the moment is that with inflation so high, that 2 year contract you sign up to will be significantly higher at the end than when you started. If you're SIM only you've got flexibility to adjust.Got the other half a great deal on a Samsung end of last year which is now £4 a month more since the inflation increase and come next April it'll be at least that much more again.
