What distance does the cable you have posted support?
What distance does the poster I responded to need to cover?
What distance does the Gamechanger cable cover?
You tell me, I asked the question ffs.

Well I ordered just days ago and it's already arrived. Yet to get it setup as waiting on a mount, that I ordered a couple days after.

All looks very smart. Excited to get it sorted. Shocked at the speedy delivery.

Well the answer to at least one of those questions is is in the post you quoted challenging the price of Gamechanger cat6 & I’m surprised you didn’t know the first.

But to help you out.

Anyone else get one of these? I used to pay MXN 2299 so it’s an enormous reduction, never had anything like this from any company before.

Yes!!!

Effective 24/08/2022, Starlink is reducing your monthly service fee to £75.

The price reduction factors in your local market conditions and is meant to reflect parity in purchasing power across our customers.

No action is needed from you, the price reduction will be automatically reflected on invoices generated after 24/08/2022.

Have they updated their terms to bring in a cap with the lower price?

Can’t see anything about updated Ts&Cs. I’m also down to £75, which is great.

Very surprising and welcome!

Got mine setup today.

The speeds were all over the place... I had 145 down and 22 up, at one point and then minutes later, 25 down and 5 up.

Made no sense but I believe the first few hours can be all over the place. Anyone else experienced the same??

Also, the included router won't put signal through a piece of paper in my opinion... so luckily, I'd bough the Ethernet add on (cheeky bds don't include Ethernet port on the router) - and I tried to set up a Google Nest router ... for a Google Nest / Home mesh network. The Google router kept coming back, on screen, as cannot connect to the internet. I believe this to be related to what's been mentioned before... about it not being a standard wired connection.

I fear I'm in for some back and forth with support now frown

Anyone running Sky Q though starlink ?

Got a old Sky+ box and Sky are bugging us to changeover to Sky Q.

I have read a bit on the net about sky not supporting it, but some have got it to work.

I think Sky officially say sattelite links aren't supported but that was a traditional high latency link. Most seem to work fine on Starlink.

Sky Q works very well on starlink for me.

Have you set the starlink router as pass-through?

I have now! That was the solution, indeed.

And so I've got that sorted however the speeds are all over the place. A little unimpressed so far. 145 down and 22 up was great but lasted no time at all. It's just ok / fast'ish now with very poor upload speeds... which was important for me. Have messaged their support.

Have had a read through the thread but couldn’t see any commentary on how much starlink is affected by bad weather (especially rain) and whether it’s more a case of performance degradation or total outage.

Considering an install whilst waiting for BT to get round to installing fibre, but don’t really want to discover that performance is awful when the weather turns (which is when we’d see demand highest).

Any real world experience would be most appreciated.

I’ve not seen any issues with weather affecting performance.

The band they're using means weather should be an issue for the most part. The biggest degredation in service (speed) is going to come from increased number of users as each individual satellite doesn't have that much capacity and they're relatively 'dumb' pipes.

Great. Suspect subscriber growth won’t be a huge issue over the period in which I expect we’ll need this. With BT gradually rolling out fibre and the property being next to a main road (along which BT already run copper), and having done it elsewhere only to see BT build locally a couple of years later, I don’t really want to fork out for FTTPoD again.

Will do the obstruction check a bit later and, assuming I can locate it where I want to, get one on order.

Am I right in thinking that I also need the Ethernet adapter accessory to hook up to a larger (Unifi) system?

Mine is pretty much unusable during very heavy rain / thunderstorms.
