I've become a bit of an Olight fanboy these days and of course one needs a UV torch. All I need is some sort of reflective thing for the dog and dark walks are sorted.

Of course it would have been rude not to pick up one of these while getting stuff for free!

Hmmm - in the woods near me I often go for night rides and we've become aware of a walker who seems to only put his torch on when there is someone nearby. He sort of appears out of nowhere, torch on and then back off as he disappears into the woods. Is walking in complete darkness a thing then?

As I was too impatient for the reccomend tourch to arrive. I bought one of these and some 18650 batteries. I don't know if it makes the claimed output, but looking at the bright end when turning it on wasn't the best idea I've ever had.

Its bloody bright, more than bright enough for my needs.

Very strange. I have a clue of early evening walks I do in Epping Forest. The dog has a flashing collar and I have a variety of torches with me.

If there us anyone else walking in that part I'd rather they be aware of me as I alternate between a gazillion lumen and moonlight mode to avoid making them jump......like you stalker seems to be doing! It's one if the reasons I like Olight. Double click and straight to turbo, click and hold and it moonlight.

Mind you, I make sure I'm avoiding what used to be called lovers lanes and are now something to do with dog walking......well......until I get those night vision goggles!

I'm also an Olight fanboy and now really want an orange seeker, what a beast.

Olights are ok, apart from the stty high K whiteness so anything of colour is distorted, very cold, if they did a warmer shade of white say 4-5000k they'd be a lot better.

They do run a bit at the colder end of light, but that tends to make them seem brighter in my view. For the most part I'm not bothered by colour rendition.

Yes... most of the time, "complete darkness" is only complete for a minute or two after you turn your torch off, until your eyes adjust. Then it's OK. Clear nights with a good moon out, you can really not bother with a torch at all.
For some reason, I do find it harder to walk without a torch at night if I'm wearing my contacts rather than glasses, though?!

From what I can see it's a less powerful BLF A6 that costs twice as much

Hi all knowledgeable torch chaps - need a small torch for general duties and noticed a few pages back that everyone was buying the Ledeak T6. Is this still good VFM and good as a small but powerful torch?

Edited to add - it's £13.99 on Amazon at the moment - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ledeak-Flashlight-Waterpr...
£11.15 now

Convoy s2+ is probably the best value 'good' torch for compactish 18650 battery type.

You can even pick the beam output and even colour temperature.

That thing on the post above, I've brought similar for my kids, they're cheap, nasty and not terribly good. Probably half the cost goes on the stty charger, box, mounts etc

Recommendations needed please - a very small keyring torch - my works carpark is unlit and pitch black when I turn up and leave the office

Preferences:-

USB rechargeable
Button switch (rather than a twist cap)

I started off looking at Nitcore Thumb, which quickly drifted into Nitecore TINI and before I knew it, I was looking at Nitecore TIP2 and TUP

Obviously, I want the impossible conbination of low price, great quality, tiny size and many hundreds of lumens.....

I liked the look of the Olight i1R, but I'm not sure I could live with the twist cap

Any thoughts?

Superb little thing - two light levels, rechargeable, lightweight, etc, etc. An ideal keyring torch.

I still really like my TUP (last year's Christmas pressie, so the price was not such an issue). Charged it maybe 3 or 4 times through the year, so it's doing 3 or 4 months of mixed use before I decide it's time - I haven't run it right out yet. Button lock-out works fine, ...and... really nothing bad to say about it. It's not the cheapest or tiniest, but great quality and loads of lumens... you could easily have it as your only torch.

(I'm joking, of course.
Nobody could possibly have just one torch!)

While I understand the aversion to twisty lights I can recommend the latest mark 2 version of the Olight i1r.

It's remarkably bright for its tiny little size, the latest version has a captive end piece, so twist tighter for 2 brightness levels and unscrew for off, there's plenty of thread and when you get to the end of the thread it exposes the usb port but stays in place and can't be removed. Much better than a rubber flap IMO as the port is internal to the torch in normal use.

Some of the other suggestions aren't a key ring torch to my mind as they're too big, especially with modern key fobs already being significant in size and already having a tiny SAK on my keys.

I also own the S1R mentioned above and or is a good little torch but not on a key ring.

What is / who is the current recommendation for 18650 cells? They don't need to be the best, just decent. They're (8) going in to a power bank.
