Looking into this. The LED strip light seems wildly expensive.
It is but you can get around it.

You can purchase a Zigbee compatible controller that will power LED tape up to 5m long and provide you with the same functionality for pretty much the same price as a 2m lightstrip. I've got this configuration in three different rooms with no problems whatsoever.

Good to see Ikea now do compatible coloured bulbs. Just need to make them available without the remote and costs will be sensible.

I can't see anything that suggest being able to log or track the temp, but it was a nice surprise to see it added!
I wonder why they didn't include it as a marketing feature when they were launched?
It also now shows the sensor status and lux level for each motion sensor in the Home app too.

I was recently thinking of getting an external thermometer, and also wanted to put a hue bulb in the back door light with a sensor, so now I can do both in one which is nice.

Sorry for the image size, I forgot to resize it before uploading!

Does anyone know of an android app that will give a similar interface to this?

Have a look at www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/lighting/smart-lightin...

If I remember corectly all in gu10 400 lumin.
warm white dimerble is £7
White colour temp change and dimm is £14
Full colour is not yet released

Ikia bulbs need rev two of the firmware installed to play well with hue. Unfortunatly you cant tell this from the packaging I took a chance and all had v2, the web seams to think all curent stock is v2. If you have v1 bulb it can be updated with the ikia hub thing to v2.

To pair the bulbs simply fit in the light fitting. switch off and on 6 time the serch in the app. Job done.

I wonder if the dimmer will work with hue. I'm currently using a Numio for that in the living room and it's a complete kludge, being nothing more than a bluetooth control for a tablet - won't dim unless the tablet is paired and on to send the instructions out. Anyway, I digress...

At £8 it's worth the Ikea dimmer looks worth a punt.

I'm going to get a Floalt (and one the ugly motion sensors) in for the bathroom refurb I'm currently working on. I shall report back...

Could probably do something like this with IFTTT.

I have used the Phillips app to set that up, as mentioned, using the motion sensor. Early AM nuclear bright but up to 6 am and after 10pm , min orange glow or something.

I see there’s a new version of the motion detector out, what’s the difference to the old one?

Has anyone found a decent ceiling fitting that doesn't cost the best part of £400?

It's for the kitchen/dining area - kitchen area has 12no colour ambience GU10, some strip and a couple of hue blooms and looks great.

Dining area has an old halogen G8 type fitting attached to ceiling which ruins the whole look.

Only real option I can see is a GU10 style fitting with another maybe 4no GU10 in it but even then that's £200 + cost of the actual fitting (some sort of runner?).

No option to put more GU10 fittings in as solid ceiling at slightly higher height.

What is it with the pricing of this stuff?

This is the shortcoming of the system I think. Attractive light fittings include the bulbs as part of the design be it clear candles or fancy Eddison style jobbies. A standard bulky opaque bayonet just doesn't work.

I think I'll only use the system for lamps with shades. The GU10's are useful but you don't really need colour changing for those, just dimming.
