My Z1 Compact cracked on the corner of the glass/screen, after being pluuged in to charge overnight (not dropped). Seems a common issue. Sending it off to the insurers shortly. Not sure if they'll repair it or offer me a replacement. If so, I guess it will be the Z3. Not sure if I'd be happy with another Sony. Are the Z3s better built than the Z1s?
My 1st one had a knackered screen when I turned it on for the first time so 3 swapped it over, the 2nd one had the covering on the inside of the camera lens cover coming off so all photos looked foggy and 2 weeks after getting it back I have to send it back again as I woke up this morning to it showing no signal and not picking up any networks in spite of a full reset. Might get rid when it comes back from Sony again.I bought my girlfriend exactly the same model, at the same time (only in white....if that makes a difference) and her's has been faultless. Maybe I've just been unlucky? No doubt plenty of issues with similar products from other companies.
We have 4 Z Series phones in the family - I have a Z3 and original Z, OH has a Z1 Compact and the old dear has a Z1. All have been pretty reliable with only a slight crack in the corner of the screen of my Z3 where the OH dropped it. Had a few software issues with Lollipop, however most seemed to affect the Nexus line too, so I suspect I know where those came from.
Certainly not seen anything to put me off having another Xperia - the Z3 is the best phone I've had, quite comfortably.

Z3 so far,
Battery life is still good, better than any phone I've had for a while and 80% of what is does it does well or as well as my old S3 if not in some cases better.
The things that are crap I find are firstly loud speaker, if you're using it to make calls on loudspeaker or play radio/podcast it's not loud enough even at maximum volume. Also the flashlight is nothing like the Samsung one and I use that probably more than I realised.
Build quality is better but the back is prone to cracking it seems, I fixed/replaced it as per previous post here but it just shouldn't happen so easily, I'm not even sure how it did tbh.

weird but when I look at deals for 24 month contracts the Z3 is actually cheaper than the Z3 compact now, dispite the cost of the phones off contract.
Might be because of Z3+http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/phones/xperi...

Just picked up a Z3 compact after having spent about the last 6 years or so with HTC. My HTC One SV died last night so thought I'd try something else. Went for the Xperia for the water resistance, and that is it. Also considered the M4 Aqua but its huge!
Any hints or tips that will make my use of the Xperia better?

Don't use Superior Auto on the camera. It's crap. Stick with manual. Any hints or tips that will make my use of the Xperia better?
