Uh oh. Maybe I should have taken him up on the slightly reduced offer. Let’s see if retentions ring me.

Now to ring Sky and get that daft bill down!
Annoying.

I'm sure you still can if you change your mind.

I was all set to join plusnet a couple years back then did just that.

The Super hub 3 is utterly crap. We were with Virgin from the Telewest days, so about 15 years. Never had a problem until Virgin forced a Superhub 3 on us.

It was absolutely crap from the day it was plugged in. It was slow and constantly dropping connections. Initially that it was our problem not the hub, then than they don't guarantee any WiFi so wasn't their problem. Support was dire.

Initially we solved the problem by piggybacking our own router, but recently swapped to Sky for half the cost.

Go to their support pages and look for superhub3 issues. There are many in the same boat.
Conversely, mine has been utterly reliable. Never given me a seconds' bother. And when you look through the support pages, don't forget the several million people out there who haven't had issues and therefore haven't posted on the support pages.

I'm sure that there are some duds out there. But to condemn every unit as 'utterly crap' is a huge distortion of the truth, which is that almost all of them work just fine.
Why then were Virgin unable to fix the problem?

Their call center told me the problem was that each device (regardless of if they are doing anything) needs 10mbps of bandwidth, so we needed to disconnect some.

The engineer that attended couldn't find anything wrong with it and didn't think a replacement would fix the problems.

When I called to cancel they told me don't support WiFi as part of the service so buying another router would be the best solution.

That's doesn't would like a decent router to me.

In some ways I'm glad it was crap as it's saved me half my broadband bill. Previously I just paid as I believed I was getting a good service. Sky broadband is near half the cost, and the service is way better.

Outcome?
100meg connection at £28 a month.
et
Was going up to £44 from £27 a month and the best any of the BT powered alternatives could do at 75meg was £27, so I'm happy enough and no faffing.
Handy. I've got to do the dance soon.
does that include the bigger bundle? if so its a great price - saying so as my 'new' bill is £53 a month, thats 100Meg with phone and bigger bundle & all the BT sports +HD/UHD. It should have been £80 or something

Mine was over £50 a month for 100mbps and to try and keep me they offered to reduce it to £44! After that they didn't call back to try and make me stay.

They want the Superhub3 back which is a shame as it would have been nice to take a hammer to it smile

At least 15 years, probably longer as I was an old Telewest cable customer and just migrated through each take over. Internet and broadband were later additions.

All I really wanted as WiFi that worked, and a speed that was something like what I was paying for. The cost was never an issue until the service didn't work, and the customer support was dire.

Oh right. I'm surprised they didn't offer anything more interesting. Maybe they forgot to call!

I've been with them since 2003 and not had a single fault with routers (even the Superhub 3).

I've phoned to cancel, left it for a few days and they have called without fail.

I suspect due to Covid they don't have the staff.

From the time I cancelled there has been no communication other than automated emails.

The return bag arrived today so it's now on its way the the next unsuspecting customer smile

Does anyone have just the fibre broadband and phone? I'm currently paying £54.49 and wondered what anyone else was paying for the 200mb fibre?

Currently on hold to Virgin as they are 'very busy'

I cancelled in April and got through immediately to someone working from home who basically asked "what do you want to pay??". All sorted in 5 minutes.

FFS!!!

Just been chatting with someone (Enita) about upgrading to the Oomph package.

Virgin Chat said:
Q) what my query was about?
A) upgrade to Oomph bundle

Please wait while we transfer you to a real person...10 minutes later:
Q) can you answer some security questions?
A) of course

...10 minutes later:
Q) can you tell me what your query is about today?
A) upgrade my broadband only package to the Oomph package

Q) why do you want a Virgin SIM?
A) I don't, but it's part of the package

Q) how much data do you need?
A) again, I don't need one, but the package is unlimited data, calls, texts

Q) thank you, do you really need unlimited everything?
A) again, no I don't, but that's what the package comes with, and if I try to remove the SIM the price goes UP

Q) thank you, now do you require any premium channels such as Sky Sports or Sky Cinema?
A) yes, but that's part of the Oomph package that I'd like to upgrade to

Q) Have you considered the M200 Mix Bundle, which comes with 105+ channels and weekend calls
A) WTF
Gave up after that!
