Nvidia RTX 4000 Launch
Discussion
I bought a 4070 a week after launch. It replaced a 3060Ti and feels a real step up even without using frame generation @ 1440p. With the games that do support dlss3 that I have played the difference is huge. Microsoft Flight Sim has been transformed as frame generation basically eliminates my aging 9900K cpu bottleneck. Dying Light 2 with all ray tracing effects on (global illumination is a game changer), Cyberpunk with path tracing playable 60fps+ with dlss. Stunning. I could go on...Forza Horizon 5, Plague Tale Requiem, Spider-Man..
It does all this while pulling a measly 183w at stock, and runs very cool and quiet. I have the Zotac Amp Airo card.

Well as luck would have it our Freezer has packed up this afternoon so that's probably that for a bit ![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
Buy a new one on finance and add 1100 quid to the loan for a 4080.![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
I caved in and bought the 4080 before the 4070 was announced, but then I was coming from a 1070 so needed to get something. Its massive! Make sure your PSU has enough ATX connectors, mine did but more by luck than judgement. Or buy the very reasonable (in $ and cm!) 4070.

It's OK magically freezer has fixed itself overnight ! I'm not hard up the Mrs just doesn't like me spending it ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Tell her if you don't get one now when RTX 5000 is launched it'll be so much of an upgrade you'll have to upgrade the CPU, motherboard and RAM as well, so doing it now will save £1000.![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

I've gone for a 4070 .... Is there such a word a eunchachism ? I suspect to join the ranks shortly ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
It's a great card - basically 3080 performance with more memory than the OG 3080 and extra features, plus super low power consumption/heat and a few quid cheaper than the 3080 SRP despite all the inflation we've seen (should still be priced lower though, probably £530 or lower would be reasonable).![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

Great card. Only thing I don’t like about it is the power connector. Just make sure that it connects properly when you connect the power cable to it. It probably won’t click but it needs to go all the way on or there’s a risk of it melting!I went last week from a 3070ti to a 4070ti - my best beloved wanted a new games PC so a touch of man-maths and her PC cost her a grand and my new 4070ti cost me about £550.
The biggest thing I've noticed is how much quieter it is - I think the 3070ti was having to work pretty hard at 4K, whereas the 4070ti just strolls along.
