Can somebody help me please.
I connected the ipad3 to my pc & it's downloaded tons of music which I don't want in the ipad.
Despite trawling the net, I am unable to figure how to remove all this music.
I've tried thru itunes, "selected all" but the edit/delete is greyed out.
Help please !!

Got mine today, happily tapping away on it now. Can see why some people are underwhelmed by this over the last generation, and agree that someone who already had an iPad2 perhaps shouldn't bother. But having skipped the 2nd gen and deciding to wait patiently for this new model as my first tablet, I must say I'm rather chuffed with it. A total joy to use, especially the integration with AppleTV and iTunes HomeSharing (Already was a breeze on iPhone!)

Just off the top of my head, there is a lot more uses for an iPad:
Note taking - penultimate, thinkbook and notability etc etc etc - plus I use a stylus that is like a white board pen
World radio - tunein radio, tunemark - loads of apps
Time management - pocket informant etc
Document scanning - loads of apps
Games - loads of them
Alarm clock - loads of apps
Free Magazine content - flipboard, zite, eviri, pulse, editions etc etc etc
Internet browsing - atomic web browser
Video streaming - loads of apps
Tv guide - zeebox - loads of apps
Social networking - im+ etc etc etc
Video editing - loads of apps
Photo editing - loads of apps
Social networking radio - takes your tweets whatever and speaks them while your music is playing
Forum Apps - tapatalk etc etc
Music apps - beat blaster, deezer etc etc
Drawing - sketchbook etc etc etc etc
Family Photos - iphoto etc etc etc etc
Hobbies - astronomy for instance maybe star walk
Education - flashcards - loads of apps
Music making - garageband etc etc etc
Tools - jumbo calculator etc etc etc
Finance - bloomberg, forex trading oanda etc loads of apps
Banking - llloyds, santander etc
Reading - goodreader etc etc etc
Shopping - shopstyle - loads of apps
Free apps - apps that show you the daily apps that have gone free - appsgonefree for instance - loads of apps
Skype, FaceTime etc etc etc
All of the above and much much more in one tablet device, how can people say a pc is better as a pick up and play everyday device.
But almost all of those you can do on a laptop (why anyone would want a shopping app I can't imagine - go on the website?). Where it scores is in portability and battery life.Note taking - penultimate, thinkbook and notability etc etc etc - plus I use a stylus that is like a white board pen

Have you had a go with the shopping apps?Given that most supermarket websites are ghastly arse on a desktop, let alone a touch-based mobile device, they're a vast improvement.
One thing that's rarely mentioned is how much cheaper software is over a laptop, I have a very powerful photo editor, DJ software, a huge range of music creation tools, very sophisticated drawing/art programs...all for about 30 quid in total. Price up something remotely comparable on a laptop and you would be into the several hundreds.
I started DJing a year ago purely because of the iPad (I bought a 4.99 app on a whim, then ended up buying dedicated hardware for it once I realised how much I loved it), if I had a laptop that simply wouldn't have ever happened.

No I haven't to be fair. I've shopped on the web since 1996 - and never once used my phone for such things. Don't know about supermarket websites though, you may well be right; never shopped online for groceries.Given that most supermarket websites are ghastly arse on a desktop, let alone a touch-based mobile device, they're a vast improvement.

So maybe an Ipad is just not for you?I have not had one before but I am keen to use it
after all it is shiny and a gadget
in my world what more reason would a bloke need?

I've already said I think I'll be getting one - I posted earlier as to why. I have a laptop, an e-ink based ebook reader and a small android tablet (I also use Android phones). The ipad knocks spots off the android tablet. Its musician stuff I would mainly use it for. I have not had one before but I am keen to use it

Some of the shopping apps are actually quite good, I use the ocado app regularly and have no complaints.Even if my laptop ten hour battery life I'd probably use the iPad more, it makes everything more exciting. Just touching a symbol on a screen and the program being there instantly appeals to me more than starting up a laptop or reviving it slowly from sleep and the tedious mouse clicking. Anyway it's not just portability it's efficiency for instance quickly swiping up with four fingers to get a list of your open apps and volume controls etc, swiping left to right with four fingers to go through your open apps, pinching with four fingers to return to home screen, zooming, pulling the spacebar apart to get a thumb keyboard etc. Then there is the iPhone integration and hopefully it will become the world's best tv remote although zeebox is quite good if you have a compatible tv.
Hi James,
Hopefully some of this is useful, I'm in the mood for blabbering :-)
Internet browsing.
Yes you can do it all on the laptop, but the experience on the iPad is just better as many/most Internet services use touch optimized apps as an alternative to the web browser. A couple of examples as to how good this can be is a newspaper app and Amazon Windowshop.
Most of the news sites are not like a paper and I prefer reading a paper than a news site, the iPad is a middle ground where you get a newspaper-like experience but straight from the computer and immediately up to date. They are getting better all the time too.
Amazon Windowshop is a really "fun" way to browse Amazon and even though it has exactly the same content as the main site, again the interface is just better.
Having documents and photos wherever you are.
Again this can be done on the laptop, but with iCloud I have my latest photos from the phone or computer available to show anyone, and (eventually when OS X Mountain Lion is out I think) my documents will be there too. It all happens in the background without me doing anything so they are just there, which is great. As above it is more fun than using the laptop to show this stuff too. Pages and Numbers are proper apps that you can use to work on documents, but not for much more than minor editting, they dont really replace a laptop for document creation.
Games
I don't really use any, but my cousins (11 & 13) go crazy for playing on their iPad. I've tried Angry Birds and Cut The Rope and they are a lot of fun.
Lastly...
There is also a strange intrigue that older people in my family seem to have with iPad, I don't know whether this is just my family though :-P. They have pretty basic or no computer literacy, but today (and other occasions before) have been passing the iPad around, or grouping around it, taking stupid photos on Photo Booth and checking out random photos that I have synced through iCloud. They have never done this with a laptop!
It is a strange device that does nothing new, but it does every day home/personal stuff really well.

When the iPad 2 was first launched, I went to get one for SWMBO (she was dropping hints). I didn't see the fuss myself, in spite of playing with a few original iPads that belonged to friends.
So off I went to queue up (the limited numbers sold like hotcakes here in Malaysia on launch day and over the first couple of months), but figured since I could easily find a buyer to pay me a premium to cover the cost of the time I wasted queueing, I would maximise my purchase limit of two and buy another unit to sell on.
But when I got home I got curious and opened it up to take a good look at it, fully intending to put it back in the box and move it on. But once I started using it I never looked back. I am a proper techie, and spend hours a day staring at code. Nothing will ever replace my high-end desktop behemoth (even the most powerful laptop doesn't even come close), but the iPad is just so brilliant at what it does.
I use it as a presentation tool for client meetings. For small meetings of just two or three people, it is perfect. In my opinion, for this reason alone, the iPad is worth the asking price.
I have also now migrated all my reading to the iPad. I have completely stopped buying physical books - I now read them through the Kindle app. I have transferred all my magazine subscriptions over to the iPad. If I have to read anything remotely chunky, I will do it on the iPad. I have all my RSS feeds set up, and read all my tech and dev blogs on the iPad.
It is for this reason that I will be getting the new one as soon as it's launched here, because I think one of the people groups with the most to gain from the new screen are heavy readers.
Hook, line, sinker. Yep, that's me.
