mine has been a lot better too but i wonder how much of it was down to doing a full hard reset.

As an update on the broken earpiece that arose from the battery replacement work, apple were really good about it and replaced the entire screen (it's all integrated) at their cost. They also called out that the front camera was bksed during their diagnostics too, but as I am not a selfie addict i had not tested this in the week since it got broke!

The reset was part of their tests to work out what was wrong with the earpiece/receiver so it's possible i actually benefited from this so I am OK with it.

So say what you want about Apple, but I went in yesterday to finally swap my battery out, and ask them to look at why my lighting port wasn't playing ball properly when charging, and after some investigation, they swapped my 3.5 year old battered iPhone 6 out for free, as they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't charge.

Their after sales sometimes is absolutely first rate.

Good for you, apparently their was a miniscule crack I hadn't noticed on my screen when i did the postal service so I had to pay a further £130+ to get my shafted iPhone back in working order.

Out of warranty admittedly.

Couple of iMacs, iPhones etc etc but I think the company deserve to get rinsed over this.

So it should be with the margins they are making.

And if it were designed properly in the first place.....

You got fed up with one of their products and went straight out and bought another of their products?

I’ve booked to have my battery replaced on Monday,
I’ll update here if it makes any difference to the overall speed of things.
Presently if I write a text, there’s a very noticeable lag from opening the app to actually being able to type in the text box.
IOS10 was an immediate response, IOS11 is truly a laggy one.

Batteries replaced on both yesterday.
The 6S had snapped tabs, so they just replaced the entire phone.
Of course, the 6s we took in was immaculate and the 6 was beaten up so no massive gain.

Can’t tell you if anything is running better yet.

My ID is a Yahoo address - works fine.

Are new registrations being refused with Google addresses?

It seems to be where they already have that email address already on their system somewhere... that's what the inter web is suggesting.

I eventually got an Apple ID using my old Hotmail address (eg JSmith@Hotmail.com) but this was initially rejected stating it was already being used as an Apple ID, which was NOT the message I got when trying to use my Gmail address.
It turns out that someone else had mistyped theirs of JSmith99@Hotmail.com and I had a week of arguing before they accepted they had been using my address in error. Unlike well organised online companies, it looks like Apple don't bother to validate an email address before allowing it to be used.

After chatting online with support I got a new battery in my 6+ last Sunday. Honestly it’s like having a new phone. It is responsive, switches apps quickly, and lasting well over a day on a charge. New life for an over 3 year phone for 25 quid. No brainer.

Er, isn't it more like having your old phone back. Y'know, the one they artificially limited beer
