Received the Griffin survivor case for the iPad 2 and it fits the new iPad perfectly however it does give a grainy texture to the screen and the compartment flaps don't seem to want to stay open. I'm holding the mic flap open to dictate this post.

Also the stand is not as durable as the rest of the device and the screen adds a bit of friction when using a stylus. Otherwise seems like a good case if your worried about the iPad getting damaged from a drop.

Mines gone in the bin, what a pile of cr*p.
Nice screen, "instant on" is good.
Apart from that, total garbage which is where it's gone.

Dreadful device. If this is the best tablet, then what's the worst one like.
Don't worry HP netbook, you're life is secure.
Twice the machine at half the cost - and Photoshop came pre-installed.

What were you expecting from it exactly?

I'm a busy photographer. When out and about I wanted a device to view the pix.
But to do that involves too jumping thru too many hoops. I'd like to fit sd card in the & view immediately. I don't seem to be able to do this.
iTunes - don't get me sta.......... ( see bel....)

5mp camera - I threw away better 10 years ago.
Is it really Mono sound ? I can only see one speaker. The last mono record I remember was She Loves You by the Beatles in '62.

To turn volume 'Up' press the button 'Down' & vice ver.......

Hold the device in landscape mode & I keep accidentally hitting the switch.
Go to App Store & it seems I have to reset the parameters each time, it doesn't remember the previous parameters I set.
Apart from instant on and a good screen I see nothing else to recommend it over my 250 HP netbook complete with Photoshop.

I could go on but wont bo.....[ guess the rest as in the iTunes instructions below - doesn't even have Bubble Help ]

Never seen that before in iTunes. I assume you have some weird settings on your computer to make the fonts bigger?

5mp camera. Yes, not the best out there, but as a photographer i'm sure you know that megapixels aren't the be all and end all. Does anybody actually expect to use their iPad as a viable camera though? I certainly don't.

Mono sound, via the inbuilt speaker sure, not via headphones. Again it could have 2 speakers in it, I agree, but can you honestly say you will get stereo separation from 2 tiny speakers 4 inches apart?

Volume buttons, up being down? What? Are you holding it upside down?

Never have a problem with app store losing parameters? It's always where I left it when I go back to it here.

I expected a device that I could connect to my camera, view a pic and submit to Flickr. I expected to be able to do this easily, quickly and with the minimum of fuss.

I've tried this as I type this message, but have given up.
The netbook, ok takes ages to start up, but would have done this operation quickly and with no hassle.
Don't get me started with connecting the iPad to pc. Nightmare.

I expected a user friendly intuitive machine. I got an internet viewer that also plays Angry Birds on a superb screen. I also find I have open wallet directly connected to the Apple Store.

When you said "some people dont have a clue" what did you mean ?

How long does it last if watching films / tv back to back?
Over 2hrs of Sky Go (so Wifi as well as visuals/audio) ran down 10% of my battery yesterday. I've never noticed a big difference regardless of what you are doing on it, always got 10hrs out of my iPad 1 and this seems to be on a par.

To be fair, it woudn't have taken much research to find out the iPad was the wrong device for you. If you wanted a tablet with an SD card there are plenty of Android ones that have that and they're usually cheaper to boot.

Comparing any tablet to a netbook or laptop is missing the point. Tablets are really designed for looking at stuff, rather than doing stuff. A laptop is much better at the latter and not as good at the former.

But it's a ridiculously expensive way of just 'looking at stuff'.

No, I don't really have a use for one. But if I was a professional photographer who was happy to go out and buy an iPad on a whim without really knowing much about it I'm sure I could stretch to another £25 to view my photos.

I'm pretty sure he said he had the connection kit? His complaint is there's no easy way to bulk import only the photos he wants, ie, like holding shift and dragging and selecting on his notebook.

I could never justify paying £500+ for a tablet but I got my Transformer for about £350 and I'm more than happy with that price. In truth I only got it for doing development work on but it gets used every day now, despite having a laptop and desktop (which also still get regular use, I should add).

The tablet's brilliant for a bit of casual gaming while the wife watches Coronation Street and we also hook it up to the TV via HDMI for watching videos or photos but it's primary use is for the net. The internet is just too damn useful to ignore nowadays, so being able to look stuff up in seconds rather than minutes is brilliant.
