I’ve booked to have my battery replaced on Monday,
I’ll update here if it makes any difference to the overall speed of things.
Presently if I write a text, there’s a very noticeable lag from opening the app to actually being able to type in the text box.
IOS10 was an immediate response, IOS11 is truly a laggy one.
Bloody waste of time that was, booked in at a so called Istore in Ipswich through the Apple UK site, good job I phoned before going there.

Sorry m8, batteries on a short supply, may be March before Apple send them, they dont make the Iphone 6 bits any more. No sI-Iit Sherlock.

So how many days would you need my phoe for, its a simple job yes, could be between 3-5 day turnaround. Seriously. WTF.

Now going to Norwich sometime in the future.

Bah bloody humbug

i'm surprised by how st their systems are in places, considering how slick the process is meant to be / usually is. Why can't the system check stock of spares in the store, for pre-defined jobs (like off the back of a support ticket which has included diagnosis)? It's not like you can book so far in advance that the stock forecast is unclear, you can only book for that week, generally. They could just reserve the bit for you. Job done. Also when you arrive they can't see what the job is when you book in, so you have to explain it all to them. No excuse for that in the systems, as they have your job in front of them.

I think they don't want your business. They don't want to take £25 off you to replace the battery, how much does it cost in labour?

Well, so barely seems worth doing once you take the cost of the battery and VAT into account.

barely seems worth it for whom? The normal price is like £100 or something. They reduced the price to £25 because of the potentially massive impact of the story which formed the topic of this thread... not sure what you're getting at

Istore Ipswich, an apple reseller being asked to change batteries for £25. Unless they are being paid money by Apple on top probably don't want the hassle over next to no profit.

That's why they wouldn't do it

firstly i think they are apple outlets, not a separate business and secondly even if they were, as it was Apple's design which has brought about the 'batterygate' fiasco then why would they mandate the shops to drop the price but not fund it?

New OS is out and has the battery info, not a greta deal of info. Mine is at 89% compared to when it was new and not throttling. 2 years old.

Mine is at 92% 3 years old, and isn’t working as fluidly as it did on iOS 10. Piss poor apple. Not a happy bunny,?

iOS 11.3 Battery Health FAQ: What it does and how to use it on your iPhone.

https://www.macworld.com/article/3253950/apple-pho...

"When the battery issue was first identified, it was assumed that the throttling was related to battery’s ability to hold a charge. That’s not quite the case. While there may be some correlation to how fast your battery drains and performance, Apple’s throttling only kicks in when an unexpected shutdown is detected."

So actually not as bad as everyone thought.

“Unexpected shut down” was introduced as a feature in iOS 8. A fully functioning phone would just shut down. The issue I had with that was my wife’s 6S would “unexpectedly shut dow”n within minutes of my 1 year older 6. Seemed a little timed.

Loosing only 8% capacity after 3 years and likely over 1000 charging cycles is actually really good.

Giving their products longevity rather than planned obsolescence? I certainly hope so.

Tell you what is strange.

I bought an iPad 4 mini and it was jerky and slow.

I updated it yesterday and it's now smooth as it should be.
