Im tempted by the Nanoleaf, anyone on here got one? Bit pricey for what it is, but does look good.
Yep! Getting the rhythm module for it too made it better for us and couple this with Hue Disco/similar adds a nice effect to the room.

Morning all, I'm thinking about joining in with the Hue GU10's.. Quick couple of questions..

I have 10 spots in my living room, ideally I don't want to buy 10 initially, I'd like to buy the starter pack and have a play about and see how I get on with it.

Can I run 3 of them on, with the other 7 bulbs off? I've maybe missed it but presume I need to have the main switch on, for the bulbs to work, but that would mean all 10 would be on.

Ideally I'd like to be able to have all 10 on, then switch 7 off and leave three as mood lighting? Not sure this is possible?

That's correct, main switch on will turn all lights on, you would be able to control the Hue's and turn them off with the app but not control the standard bulbs.

You'd be better off starting with one of the other packs with the B22 or E27 bulbs and trying them in some lamps or whatever before you go committing yourself to replacing 10 GU10's.

The bulbs need to be on at the switch, but the app can turn the light off even while they're on the at the switch.

I'm thinking about going with the Ikea GU10s to save on the cost of the Hue ones - something like £7 instead of £20 a bulb from the look of it.

As Oakey said ^^^

If it's about cost you could get the 3 Hue colour ones and 7 of the cheaper "white" ones from Ikea? Then you can play away.

Don't forget that the Hue colour GU10's are deeper than regular GU10s so may not fit in your light fittings (ceiling ones will probably be ok but I can't be sure).

My GU10's are in wall lamps, and once the bulbs were in I couldn't screw the cap of the fitting on. Solved in the end when I found wall lamps with deeper recesses, but may be an issue if they're in the ceiling and don't fit.

So I’ve been wanting to put a lightsrip along a wall for a while but was debating how well it would light the wall. Philips have now announced Hue Play https://www2.meethue.com/en-gb/p/hue-white-and-col... and now I think my problems are solved. £120 for a twin pack and released mid October, you can also add a 3rd to the same power supply at £55 I think it is.

I think it solves my setup problem, I also contacted the hue team to confirm if it will still work with ambilight like my other bulbs and they confirmed it acts like normal hue bulbs.

This probably isn't quite what you need, unless you have something to hide it behind, but thanks to Prime Day I have a lightstrip just lying behind my headboard, pointing upwards from the box skirting.

Excuse the mess, it's almost time to retire the air conditioner for the winter which will improve things!

If I want to create a scene that spans multiple rooms, do I have to create a new room with them in as a scene seems to only allow for control in one room

Also, if I buy a hive GU10, will it appear in the Hue app, or only the Hive app?

Combining them together in one room would mean losing control of them as individual rooms but would work.

A better idea would be using a 3rd party app and creating a group or groups as appropriate. A group is a bit like a room but bulbs can be in multiple groups and then setup up scenes using those groups.

If you're using Android I'd suggest All4Hue or Hue Essentials for setting up groups and applying scenes to them.

Excellent, does that give you scenes though or just control of the lights grouped together in the Amazon app? If that method does what you need fair enough but I'm not sure it's a scene the way l understand them
