Something to back up those accusations would make them at least worthy of consideration. Otherwise completely meaningless.
Worst customer services I’ve ever came across. Staff couldn’t even speak proper English. fked my credit report up.
Wouldn’t touch ever again.

Their Customers own assessment.
One of two operators in Europe who think it’s ok to charge customers ‘contract’ phone rates even after expiration of lock in and don’t inform
Under investment in network
Miscreant of highest order. Investigated and fined by regulators in many countries for false and misleading advertising. I.e they lie, constantly.
My own personal experience. Dire.
Professional experience. We provided services to them. It’s a debt laden pile of cat st.

I have found EE very good. Always get to speak to an English person if you phone 150 within 30 secs.

Anyone who has picked up at the store; are there Xr models on display?

Don’t want to make a decision until I have seen them both.
I went into the Apple Store in Plymouth on Wednesday and only XS and Max were on display. Plenty of those to play with but, like you, I was interested in the XR.

Anyone know when it will be available to play with?

as with the XS & Max - once they've launched.. not ideal if you want to play before you buy as they'll probably be sold out for a few weeks but you could always pre-order and give it straight back if you don't like it

Rather shrewd of Apple to delay the launch of the XR. I'm sure there would've been no issue with manufacturing, given their clout, but there will be a number of people who would've bought an XR who ended up getting an XS instead because they couldn't bear waiting and missing out on the new phone circus.

I watched a speed test on YouTube... the iPhone is between 30% and 200% faster than a Samsung s9. The biggest boost is in graphics, which is less of an advantage if you are not gaming.

I was going to upgrade to an S9 and haven't had an iPhone for years, in favour of Samsung...

But smaller bezel and a much Better processor might swing me to trade ecosystem.

Expensive though

If I was to buy a dual sim Xr in Hong Kong would the warranty be valid in the rest of the world should it develop a problem whilst travelling as I travel frequently to HK, UK, France and NZ. The eSim thingy is no good to me as I am not tied to any particular network and it looks like the eSim is only for "on contract" phones so the dual-sim HK version would suit my needs perfectly.

IPhones are excluded from their worldwide warranty; although in practice I’m sure they would be willing to repair out with the country of purchase.

The other thing to keep in mind is length of warranty; even if they do fix iphones bought elsewhere it will only be for a year whereas UK purchased phones benefit from longer consumer protection as stated on their website.
They generally don’t mention it as they would rather sell you Apppe Care.

Picked up the XS yesterday. Coming from a galaxy s8+ And before that an iPhone 6+

After using the phone for a few hours I’m completely underwhelmed. Cant really put my finger on why this is, the hardware is great and I love Face ID and the smaller form factor, but for some reason it’s just not doing it for me. I think the phone does everything pretty well, but there is just nothing new or exiting about. The notch and overly rounded corners are also starting to bug me. Gutted because I was keen to move back to IOS.

The S8+ is still a decent phone and the camera on the XS doesn’t seem that much better to me so might return the iPhone later and stick with the S8 for a bit longer. On a positive note, if the phone goes back, Ill have the spare cash get the new iPad Pro ( if and when it comes out)

Issue I have right now is I have an iPhone SE and I've just been using an iPhone 7 for a fortnight and going back to the SE is like using a kids phone.

I find myself torn between an XS SIM free and an iPhone 7.

I think I struggle with the idea of £1K on a phone feeling obscene rather than being able to.

Agree, 1k for a phone is ridiculous really. My wife is waiting for the XR which might be the sensible option. She’s using my old 6+ so it will be a decent upgrade for her. I don’t think it would work for me though due to the lcd screen.

I understand that unlocked iPhones are covered worldwide.

As I’m in Florida for a conference I just bought an iPhone Xs with apple care. That apparently covers you for two years including accidental damage worldwide.

As for the phone — it’s nice but not that much of an upgrade from my iPhone 8. I quite like the Face ID as it works very quickly and unlocks my phone whenever I want to do something. The notch still annoys me aesthetically a little but I’m sure i will get used to it. Other than that, it’s an iPhone and does iPhone type things. Haven’t played with the camera yet.

I had read on the forums that Apple had changed their policy for those who purchased outside India then returned to India for warranty replacement (as quoted in the link to the Indian site) but I wasn't aware that this was now worldwide. Good news if that's the case.

I'd also be wary about having to take it back for repair as I don't think that the UK stores would have parts for Chinese versions that are different which could take a while to order.

Are you suggesting the iPhones in China are different to the ones we get?

They are. The HK ones have a dual physical slots for the both sim, the UK versions don’t - just a single slot + an e-sim. It’s built into the phone and can not be removed.

Ah, I never knew that. Thanks.
